    Default Patrick Kane Worth Holding?

Is Patrick Kane worth holding? He's taking up a roster spot, we have no NA spot in our league, and obviously no timeline on a return...
I obviously play in a league counting PIMs, Hits, Blocks.

    Goals (G) 5
    Assists (A) 3
    Plus/Minus (+/-) 1
    Penalty Minutes (PIM) .5
    Powerplay Points (PPP) 1
    Shorthanded Points (SHP) 2
    Game-Winning Goals (GWG) 1.5
    Shots on Goal (SOG) 0.3
    Hits (HIT) 0.5
    Blocks (BLK) 1

League size? NA spot? H2h with playoffs or other?

I would suggest he is not worth holding in shallow leagues if you cant put him in an NA spot. The drain on your roster will not be worth it in most formats unless you are VERY sure of your team being a powerhouse. You can try to trade instead of dropping, though. Others might be willing to bite the bullet.

    D - Dobson, Karlsson

Thanks, I added some of the relevant information. It’s a pretty deep league with 18 players so there’s not much on the waiver wire.

there’s no notables… everyone available is 4% rostered or lower. Guys like wennberg, schultz, parise, etc. I’d use Kane’s spot for a couple random pickups a week

Big question: head-to-head or Roto? If Roto is there max GP?

Given what you have said, if head-to-head I would be comfortable holding Kane. It hurts short term but assuming Kane returns for the fantasy playoffs you will have him when he is needed most.
Likewise, if it is roto with max GP, you can afford to burn some games with Kane not playing, so long as you do not get to a point where you will not max out GP it is fine.

The expectation is Kane will sign and start his season in November/December.
In h-2-h you hold him for the playoff upside.
In roto you hold him for the GP value he provides.

In a H2H points league he is certainly worth holding.

      Clear for contact

Kane's agent Pat Brisson said Thursday that the winger has been cleared for contact as he recovers from hip surgery, Mario Tirabassi of CHGO Sports reports.
Advice: Kane is expected to start seriously considering offers from teams in November. The 34-year-old appears on track to be back in game action in the near future, but his fantasy value will largely hinge on what kind of role his new team gives him. Kane underwent hip resurfacing surgery in June.
