as a canucks fan im glad having a real backup if we are trying to make the playoffs. it costs 'something' to get a competent backup goalie so the 3rd rounder is like half cap dump and half to acquire desmith

Good to ensure Demko isn't overworked and gives them a credible option if anything happens.
Pearson could be a good pickup if he can stay healthy

I think is good for all the goalies in Vancouver. Silovs gets another year to be a callup in case of emergency, and Demko gets a guy who is NHL caliber as the backup to take a load off.
I do think DeSmith had a shot at taking the starting gig in Montreal, though.

At what point are these middle round picks are too much lol.
Nice use of assets by Hughes yet again. He can't really make a big swing, but these base hit trades are all really solid for him.

He’s turned Pitlick and Hoffman into 3 2025 picks (2nd, 3rd, 4th) and Pearson. You can never have too many picks! They are trade chips and lottery tickets. Who doesn’t want more of those?

Well technically you can only have 90 players on your reserve list lol. But no one is close to that mark.
But contracts wise, you can only have 50 and most teams hover around that mark.
