Chabot signed his contract 4 years ago. I think the comparisons are reaching at best. Cap percentage at time of signing is basically the same (slightly higher for Chabot).
At the same time, I can’t really see Sanderson costing more than this by the end of the next year. I think over the life of the contract it will be fair value, but I certainly don’t think it will ever be a “steal”.

Locking up their core long term. Standard overpay early and hope he catches up and surpasses the value on this contract as he progresses.

Should be a good deal. But he needs to continue to grow otherwise it's a miss.
The teams 4 is now solidified by their pay cheques given with Stutzle, Tkachuk, Chabot, and Sanderson with $32,605,714 between them (37.26% of the cap next yr).
