I own the book (can't remember if it's signed or not) and read it as a kid.
I should reread it as I forget most of it, just remember the part of him at a soccer game.
This one has been on the top of my list for a long time.
I am finally giving it a go and I am very pleased.
Its not like most books written by athletes,
it is very well written and interesting,
so far I love it!

I’m reading Outlive by Peter Attia, all about longevity. Terrific.

I don't know if it's the best way but it's massive.
One of the leading indicators for longevity is grip strength. I'm not sure that it's causal, but rather a signal of overall muscular strength, coordination and neurological well-being, which are all vital in avoiding the kind of accidents (including falling) that can quickly reduce one's longevity.
Yes totally agree - widely known now, and central to Attia’s philosophy, is that countering the major loss in muscle after age 50 for men is critical. Gotta resistance train more as we hit our 50s and beyond, and ideally have had a nice head start on that in your 30s and 40s.

I’ve got to give a shout out to one of our very own, although he’s not super active on the forums. He is a member of the PQMC league though and a super-engaged fantasy GM who is always down to talk trade.
If you have a chance, be sure to pick up a copy of The Boulevard by Jerrod Edson. It’s a very fun immersive but light read that features an interesting combo of Ernest Hemingway, Vincent Van Gogh and Satan himself.
I really enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone looking for a fun new work of fiction.
Without me, it's only "aweso".
There's a a few very prominent researchers out there that fully disagree with Peter Attia's research & recommendations on longevity.
You can find a couple in depth podcast interviews on these.
not saying I agree or disagree with either side.
it's an interesting counter-argument.
One thing to note from one, can't recall his name at the moment, is part of his argument is that without enough trials to prove Attia's research - a large part of his popularity on longevity is due to who he knows vs. what he has discovered.
Flip-side, most often breakthough discoveries or discoveries that contravene accepted science is often met with heavy skepticism or dismissed.
there's a tonne of 'boys-club' mentality and jealousy in this field as well.
it's a book I have on my list.
A lot of Attia's suggestions are pretty common sense too.

GEEK LOVE. Katherine Dunn
I read several months ago.. but one of the best, wildest, weirdest, oddest, most f---'d up, uncomfortable books you'll ever read.
The protagonist is barely sympathetic as a character and you'll like no one else in the novel.
It's your dislike, uncomfortableness with everyone that is told so gripping and so well that you're absolutely hooked.

I just finished The Ferryman by Justin Cronin.
My wife read it - and loved it. It's science-fiction.
The vibe I got out of it was "Total Recall"-ish (but don't frame the story by Arnold Schwarzenegger's movie effect).
It's got ties to other stories I've read & liked - and the overall arch is clever & well-planned.
One does have to get to the 75% mark to really form an opinion on it... anything prior is definitely too soon.
I'm glad I got some push to look forward to that 3/4 mark.
I think... when I was into science-fiction/alternate-world stuff... 5-15 years ago, I would've loved it.
(I've shifted - and I like "character-heavy" stuff now... English Patient level stuff...)
Trying to say - past-me would've highly recommended it!
I just finished reading The Three Body Problem (Cixin Liu). Science fiction story, slow to start, and definitely a lot of science to it... but man what an excellent story. Looking forward to reading the next two in that series.
Very interesting characters and development (though I did have trouble keeping all of the names straight sometimes), but also on a whole around humanity, how it captured where we are, and the general sentiments of the species, it was fascinating.
As someone who took high-school physics, and enjoyed the spin off research projects I had on the Higgs boson, particle acceleration, dark matter, etc, there was a lot of really cool science and theory in it. Appreciating the math definitely adds a layer or two, but it would still be a very good book if you don't have all the background there anyways.
It's translated from Chinese initially, but there footnotes do a good job of covering anything culturally that would be common knowledge there.

(No I don't have a hockey problem...)
I really liked the Three Body Trilogy. Book number 2 was probably my favourite, I thought it did a great job telling a different story in the world book 1 had built.

Another book I finished recently is Morning Star by Karl Ove Knaussgaard. Norwegian prolific writer known for his dense series of “My Struggle” novels with a largely auto-biographical bent. Morning Star is fiction. Interesting take on death in western culture. Good character development.
