Re: Censorship Bill
There's also Bill C-11 which makes changes to Canada's Broadcasting Act. The new bill requires streaming services to pay to support Canadian Media content. So this includes TV streaming services like Netflix and Disney+ but also include Spotify and other music related streaming services. This Bill will not cover "user generated content" so Tweets, TikToks, Instagram posts. Things like that.
"Online undertakings shall clearly promote and recommend Canadian programming, in both official languages as well as in Indigenous languages".
Maybe you're talking about this Bill as Conservatives have attacked it on freedom of expression. As it's believed the government is gatekeeping the power to control which videos, posts, and other Canadians can see online.
It's an extension of what the Broadcasting Act already pushes with TV and radio, it's just modernizing it.
