The last time he got over 18pts was in 2014-15 with 30pts. This is a bad deal for Buffalo, but they know what they get with him in terms of style, character, and experience/leadership.
This is 100% a deal that if I'm Zemgus, I'm signing instantly.

I'm not a fan of this one. I didn't mind when they re-signed Okposo, but now they're bringing back too many players from last year's team when they have the cap space for upgrades (and the pressure is on to take a step forward). On the CapFriendly depth chart, their roster is full and Olofsson is listed as a scratch. Maybe they let Jost go?

Trickle effect? How much is Hathaway gonna make if this guy makes this much?
For me, this is a very smart signing for Buffalo.
I think a lot of people are looking at only Zemgus.
But... it's a whole line... Buffalo's best defensive line:
Girgensons - Krebs - Okposo
This was essentially BUF's 4th line... and you get it back together for a combined cost of $6m (Okposo $2.5m, Girgensons $2.5m, Krebs <$1m).
They are one-year contracts and BUF has the cap space with the kids.
When Dahlin and CaseyMitts are RFAs next summer... they clear the cap space.
Last 10gp for BUF... these guys gave up only 2goals... in 10games (85min together)... pretty solid:
https://frozenpool.dobbersports.com/...&situation=ALL
Even over the full season, 427min together... just 15ga. That's pretty amazing.
And solid shot differential / Corsi differential numbers.

The splits on these guys was actually better than the Cozens/Peterka/Quinn trio... and the Jost/Mitts/Olofsson trio.
So... BUF is paying for great chemistry on one line.
Another season for Krebs to develop at center with flanking vet wingers.
And they can plug-and-play any kids in the 2nd/3rd line wing spots.
A++ move, IMO.
Gotta think that Buffalo is going to desperately try to move out Olofsson who is awful defensively and has only one attribute- his shot. If they resign Jost- that puts them at 12 forwards with Kulich busting down the door for a spot with Rosen and Savoi not far behind. Granted, one of them would probably be involved in a trade for a dman. Buffalo is going to be an interesting team to follow this offseason.
