Hossa for Green+

Need some help here guys. 12 team yahoo h2h keeper league.
23 man roster with 17 keepers at the year end.

Categories are: G,A,P,PPG,PPP,SHP,GWG,+/-,Shots

My team so far is:

LW: Heatley, Frolov, Whitney, Semin (RW)
RW: Sykora, Hudler, Hejduk, Stempniak
C: Jokinen, Ribeiro, Berglund, Bergeron
D: Green, Rafalski, Weber, Corvo, Spacek, Doughty, Russell,
G: Price, Thomas, Fernandez
Farm: Hodgson, Eberle, Harrold, Sheppard

So I\'m trying to strengthen my RW\'s but the price for Hossa is Green and Doughty. I\'m thinkin\' that\'s a little much but I\'m actually more set on D than RW. I\'m in contention this year (somehow, I know it\'s not the greatest team) so this would be to go for it all. I was thinking of replacing Doughty with Berglund but not sure if he\'d go for it.

What do you guys think, should I do it?

Smack, it\'s tempting on the surface, but look past Hossa\'s shiny self and see that Green is probably the #1 fantasy defenseman to own in a standard roto/h2h keeper league, even when PIM are counted he\'s up there with Phaneuf and Weber.

With no PIM (like your league), he is by FAR the best guy out there to own. He should fetch an amazing return. Hossa is great, but he isn\'t amazing.

Edit: I crunched the numbers, and I\'d expect Green to be the #3 OVERALL valuable player in your categories for the rest of the year. Nobody in their right mind would offer you one of the big 3 for Green straight up... though based on the numbers he\'s worth it, or close. As a consolation prize, you get to hold on to the best d-guy in your format.

Edit 2: Even with PIM in there he only drops to #4.

Bottom line: It ain\'t easy being Green. :laugh:

Oops, I forgot PIM\'s. Our league does count pims but either way I see what you\'re saying. Thanks!

In my mind, Green is pretty much irreplaceable. Hossa is extremely difficult to replace, but I think it could be done. I\'d see if you can get ahold of a proven veteran RW like Selanne, Cheechoo or Kovalev for the stretch run. They\'re not going to cost you such a pretty penny and they\'re all more than serviceable.
