Comes down to the OP's question of "value"... which only they can know (based on their league and GM tendencies). Typically the "younger" guy has more trade cache, so defaults to being more "valuable" if both ceilings are similar.

Based on feedback from the forum so far - it looks like Hughes has more value for you!
interesting take...i be very surprised if they even on the same planet in 2 years but time will tell.

Haha ain't that beauty of watching the games actually play out!

All I can suggest is that 2 years ago, EP40 was deemed the next "100 point" guy by most. Maybe it turns out he's not, and maybe Jack is (I do personally think he can get there)... but definitely feel like there's a touch of recency bias when it comes to EP at play here - whereas 2 years ago, the scales would have been highly in favour of EP40.

Not saying either pendulum swing is correct - just that I'm personally on the side that they're essentially equal when it comes to ceiling in the long-term.

maybe recency bias for some, if you dig enough you will find my takes on him...never been great fan...obviously i didnt think he be struggling way he was last year but i never seen him as 100 point guy but more like 70 point guy with some better seasons. Jack however, i think he will be flirting with 100 more than once, he was already on 94 point pace last year...EP have not crossed point per game just yet....i also think that EP jumped right into producing and didnt have much room to grow....Jack is progressing slowly but you can see start potential in almost every shift now.

I think there is a good chance that Hughes will be a tier above EP40 for the most of their careers.

I'd still take Hughes here, but EP's point totals toward the end of the season (under a new coach) are intriguing. I do know there's other cats here too.

Feb 14 points in 10 gp
Mar 11 points in 12 gp
Apr 19 points in 13 gp

EP is no slouch and can hold his own. He's also bulking up and appears motivated this off-season.

This is more in line with my thinking as well. All this talk of Hughes being 1-2 teirs above EP is very premature. Being on pace for a 90+ pt season just once is very different from actually doing it. The shine is off EP just because of his recent production appears stagnant but he is still very young yet and has the high skill ceiling to allow for more room to grow.
As it stands, and it looks like I'm going aginst the grain here, but I would not be ready today to make a 1 for 1 swap for Hughes vs EP if the opportunity came up.
