Ovie Trade Offers

Hello beautiful people,

I've received two offers for Ovie that I'm strongly considering. For the league in my signature, note it's a keep 3 and we can trade picks for next year as well as the 2023-24 season.

The first offer is a 1st round pick, 3rd round pick, Ristolainen and E. Kane for my 13th round, 11th round Ovie and Pulock.

The second offer is a 1st round pick, 2nd round pick and Duclair for my 13th round, 12th round picks and Ovie.

Both owners are willing to give picks in either year or a combo of both years.

Good offers? Hit accept? I'm leaning towards the Duclair offer. Not because of Duclair but if I'm packing it in for the season I'll take the higher pick.

The most important factor here is whether Ovechkin is one of your 3 keepers. At this point, it seems like he would be (with P. Kane and Shestyorkin). I firmly believe that Ovechkin will still be someone you'll keep for the next 2-4 years.

I don't care what the picks are, any deal in a keep 3 where I'm trading a keeper and getting Ristolainen and Evander Kane back is an instant reject. The offer is clearly the other guy trying to clear roster spots of garbage players. The Duclair offer is not as bad, but I would also instantly reject that. I would only send Ovechkin away for someone with good pedigree and a longer history of sustained production, neither of which Duclair has. Duclair has the smell of someone that is propped up by having superstuds on his line, not someone who is good of his own accord.

I'd find an owner with 4 or more obvious keep 3 players and try to turn Ovechkin into that team's 4th best player. Secure the keepers before focusing on accumulating what are the equivalent of fourth round picks.

Those are two underwhelming offers with the players not amounting to a hell of a lot. Is there not a bonafide top young player or prospect that is available? If a manager is all in going for it, try and get at least ONE top prospect or a top young player. Duclair is inconsistent and is benefitting from a great team, Risto blows, and Kane may never play in the league again.

Offer 1 is terrible
Offer 2 is an improvement, but still lacks for moving Ovie.

I am in agreement, and I would specifically like to touch on senryu’s point about finding other managers with more than 3 obvious keepers. If you are absolutely looking to move Ovi then this is the way to go. Just make sure whatever you get is an upgrade over Ovi or else what’s the point?

Don’t trade Ovie for magic beans and non-keeper throwaways.

The Evander Kane deal might have made sense if this was a prior season where he'd be a borderline keeper.

Don't make the mistake of treating a keep 3 league as if it's a keep 2 for you personally.
