I'd do that. You would essentially own the RW position and could leverage that to get whatever you wanted at some point. Point isn't exactly a replacement for Matthews but he's a fine center so you're really not taking a big hit there. Seems fine to me.

I'd pass although it's a great offer. Point doesn't produce as much as you'd want in the regular season and you are giving up the best player in the deal. Yes it would help your team but I prefer to improve keepers in other ways than giving up the best player. For example, you could probably acquire a Point type for two lesser players and still have Matthews.

His keepers seem strong, so I agree with you. I'm not sure if this is like two nickels for a dime, or two dimes for a quarter. While the offer is solid, a top team should be consolidating talent instead of spreading it out. When you add the 15th keeper to the Matthews side, this deal doesn't like nearly as rosy as it first appears (to me, anyways)

This will help you win this year, and (assuming you keep 2 goalies) it's a question of:

Whomever is your 13th best skater keeper versus Point. I'd lean Point.
Marner versus Matthews - which is close, breaking out the forward positions.

Using Dobber's guide as a baseline Marner and Matthews are a dead heat at 94 points. Point is projected for 74.
IMO, Hertl, McCann, Getzlaf, Laine, Hughes and Barzal are all unlikely to put up 74 points. Some, likely not even close. Simply put, and as others have said, this deal simply makes your team better. I'm doing this.
