    Default Big offer for Ovi

Current keepers are Kucherov, Marchand, Ovi, Hedman & Varly.

I got Kyle Connor in round 1 this year, so a contender (which I’m not rounding out to be) offered me a 1st, 2nd, 5th and 10th (and Gudas) for Ovi+Faulk (for my last 4 picks).

    I have another offer of a 1st & 2nd for K Connor.

Ovi’s getting old, but also not slowing down. Connor is a really fine keeper substitute, but should I rather Ovi for a couple more years?

F: M Tkachuk, Kucherov, Pettersson, Fiala, Reinhart, Konecny, Terry, Ehlers
    D: Werenski, Andersson, Weegar
    G: Shesterkin, Hill, Gustavsson
    IR: Kane, Svechnikov

Keep 4 bolded (based on last season keepers)

The things that make Ovechkin great in fantasy are old man skills. Going to a spot, receiving the puck, and unleashing his shot. Age gets everyone, but I wouldn't be quick to discount Ovechkin based on age. As long as his teammates can get him the puck, he can put it in, at least for the next couple of years.

I wouldn’t trade Connor for picks. He’s only 24 and the type of player you want to build around for a rebuild. As for Ovi, that’s a tough one. His actual value will put pace his fantasy value because of his age. Most people are going to look at him as an asset with declining value and the concern that could happen at any minute. But as we’re seeing that’s not necessarily the case. I wouldn’t blame you for converting him into useful assets as the list of people who would be interested in him is only going to shrink with time. The question is do you want to ride Ovi out until he’s not a productive fantasy asset because it’s highly unlikely you’ll get full value in a trade, or do you get out now while he’s scorching hot and you’ve squeezed every cent out of a trade partner.

First off, I wouldnt do the Connor offer. He's a quite possibly a keeper for you now.

The Ovechkin offer would be more tempting. How many teams in your league? Thats important to know for roughly seeing placement of the picks if the other team is a contender and will only improve should you send him Ovechkin. Second, when you say "1st, 2nd, 5th and 10th (and Gudas) for Ovi+Faulk (for my last 4 picks).", you're getting four draft picks and Gudas for OV and Faulk but I dont quite understand what you mean when you say "for my last four picks". What does that mean?

If guys like Kyle Connor are available for you to re-draft, the Ovechkin offer would tempt me, but I'd need more info.

I wouldnt move Conner for the picks. Looking at your present roster, he is your last keeper IMO.

How many teams are in the league? Snake draft? Just wondering if this is like 11 and 12 overall or like 16 and 32?

Thanks for all the help so far folks ... to answer the questions:

    12 team league
    snake draft
    keep 5 (3F, 1D, 1G)
    20 player rosters
keepers set to last 5 rounds (16-20)

I nabbed Connor in round 1 this year, at #6 (don't ask how, Marchessault went ahead of him!). The guy that's offered for him would definitely keep him and would have to release one of Guentzel, Laine or Boeser into next years draft.

The guy after Ovi won last year and is going for it this year, and "may" not keep Ovi (He has Mac, Mika and Landeskog). But would 100% flip in an off-season trade if he doesn't.

The two offers are from the #1 (Connor offer) & #2 (Ovi offer) teams in the league

Hey sorry, just meaning he'll take my last four rounds of picks, so in our case that would be rounds 12-15

The offer is constantly being tweaked for Ovi, most recent one that came through (all from the same GM) is

    Get
    Hall
    Picks - rounds 1, 3, 6

    Give
    Ovi
    Picks - roundd 13-15

He'll finish top 3, so picks his 1st and 3rd round pick would be at the bottom of those rounds. If I want his 1st and 2nd, he'd take Hall out.

And the offer for Connor also included me getting Kadri (for what it's worth)

If you're a contender you don't trade away Ovi for picks.
That instantly takes you out of contention.

You build a team to compete, not to go back and build again when you get close

In a keep five though, it's not like you need a three-year rebuild. You've had some tough luck with Kucherov and Varlamov.

Truthfully, it sounds like the other GM is a little in control of the negotiations. He's dictating the terms ("I'll give you Hall, but if you want my second rounder, I'm taking Hall away"). Hall isn't going to help you at all, why would you be interested in him?

If you're unsure or hesitant about a deal, walk away. Don't feel like you need to make a trade. Tell him if he wants Ovi, he will have to pay up. If not, and you want to deal Ovi, go to the team in second place. Say you've had an offer for Ovi from the team in first, and you want to give him a fair chance as well. See if you can create a bidding war.

Worst case scenario, nothing happens and you're stuck with Ovi.
