I thought about this as well... but if he is a skin cancer and he 'under the skin' of your players... or knows how to get under their skin... then you don't want to have to play against him 8 time a year where he throws your team off their game.

But this is also giving DeAngelo credit for being smart enough to do that. Which I am not sure if he is or is not.

I can't imagine any team giving up assets to acquire someone like Tony Deangelo. The only way that the Rangers will get away from him will be if they are adding more to the deal than the other team is. Even then, I am willing to bet that he will not play another NHL game this season nor will be in a lineup on opening day next year.

The marketing nightmare would be too much for any team at this point in time. The only saving grace is that no tickets are being sold so a team would have a few months to have the fans forget about the acquisition or to convince the public that their understanding on him is wrong.

Last I read/saw he asked to be loaned to an AHL team and the Rangers were assisting with that, but not sure how many teams would facilitate that.

It looks like the Rangers plan is to buy out Tony in the off-season. If he's is loaned to an AHL team and ends up injured in the offseason he can't be bought-out. So what's the Rangers incentive to loan him out?

Just to show he can play still. It's only beneficial if a team actually wants him. However, I doubt a team wants him if he's already making waves about not playing. It's a punishment that he's not playing, and he's antsy about to the point where he's complaining to the media.

I think he gets bought out. NYR like the buyout route.

Figure of speech but if I were forced to bet, that's how I'd bet.
