Malkin + Halak for Tavares?

I'm trading my Malkin and Halak for Tavares.

My other goalies are Markstrom, Lehner and Blackwood (IR).

Thoughts?

It's funny because Tavares and Malkin were drafted right after one another in our draft.

This is the absolute worst time to trade Malkin unless you believe he has dropped significantly off the cliff.

If you have 100% written Malkin off I would make this trade.

But I feel like Malkin will still have a stretch where he scores at point per game pace.. if you still have him you will be happy then. Or you could trade him when he starts scoring more.

Not necessarily a bad trade on paper, but hard to know for sure without full league/roster details. However, I agree with above. I hate selling low on a star player...

A normal Malkin season beasts a Tavares season in this scoring so this is a big time sell low. Are you selling before his value drops completely or before he rises to the occasion? Don't love it. I like the idea of trying to leverage your surplus of goaltending though, so maybe there's a different deal to be made.

Not sure what other league details are needed but my roster now looks like this:

C: Tavares, Monahan, Kopitar

LW: Ovechkin, Bjorkstrand, Mantha

RW: Pastrnak, Rust, J Anderson

D: Hamilton, Burns, Barrie, R Andersson

G: Markstrom, Lehner, Blackwood

I know I sold low on Malkin but I feel like Tavares is safer this year. Less worry about injury, age related decline, postponements (so far all the postponements on US teams). Tavares is also hitting more although don't know if that will continue.

I'm not big on Malkin bouncing back...
But there are several "games in hand" that PIT will have over TOR by the time this trade processes.

Maybe a game-break is what Malkin needs.
I'd hold Malkin.

Thanks for the insights everyone. The trade is being processed now so there's not much I can do. I actually like watching the Pens so I won't be mad if Geno gets going.

On the subject of postponed games, I see it making sense in roto leagues but just don't see how it would work in H2H. The NHL has already set the entire season's schedule which is already pretty compact. If they add these games to the end of the season, how does that work if say the Canadian teams have very few postponed games. Wouldn't be very fair to the Mcdavid, Draisaitl or Matthews owner.
