    Default Malkin and Tavares

How do we feel about Malkin and Tavares for the next 2-3 years?

I am arguably a top 3 team in one of my leagues, but now have to deal with the fallout of Kucherov’s injury. In addition, I expect Kubalik to take a plunge with Toews being out indefinitely.

I am contemplating swapping Kucherov, Kubalik (and/or DeAngelo) and a couple of other pieces (Studnicka, late first round pick, etc.) to get Malkin and Tavares. There is a deal to be done with this particular team, but not sure about the long term implications of getting Malkin and Tavares. Obviously, I am in a win-now mode but also have a great foundation to contend in the next 3-5 years. Can Malkin and Tavares continue to contribute in the near future? And is it worth moving Kucherov and other young players for them?

If I were to move Kucherov I would be targetting young player. But Malkin AND Tavares is quite a return.

They are both PPG players for 3 more years likely

Fwiw, I prefer Tavares to Malkin

I think that will be a good move for a win-now team. I trust both Tavares & Malkin to be productive for a few more years when healthy.

Thanks everyone! I'll probably wait to see how my team fare at the beginning of the season before moving Kucherov and other young players. I'm quite hesitant to make a big move just to compete in a shortened season, which may well go sideways anyway...
