My team should compete in the top 5. It’s built to win for the next 3 seasons ( Have guys like Malkin, Ovechkin, Letang & Burns on 3 year deals) ... EP40 would be playing for 3 years on an ELC at his current cap hit and then he would become an RFA where I would have to pay him his new deal x 10% for the next 3 years. So a lot....... like McDavid cash......
Byfield’s ELC won’t kick in until he plays for my team. Meaning I can keep him on my farm for up to 150 games before I have to roster him permanently. So a cheap ELC for 3 years with lots of development under the belt. Newhook the same.
Having said that.... EP40’s production at under a million for 3 seasons in this format puts him at the top of the league with only maybe Svechnikov being as valuable.....
No brainer? I think I lose this deal in 3 or 4 years depending on what Newhook becomes.
I am a Vancouver fan and initially offered the same deal minus the 2022 1st. This is his counter.

How long has this league been around for? The initial upside is huge and potential downside takes place in, like, 2025. This looks like an overpay, however, you said you have an older team and built for now. This deal does not hurt you in the short term — other than limit what other trades you can make. Sounds like you are giving up a ton of futures for this one piece. The question is, “is the best move you can make with these pieces?”

I would not mind to trade 4 of the 5 pieces...but i would not trade Byfiled. So Newhook, Poulin and 2 first for EP

The original overpayment of Byfield, Newhook, Poulin and a 2021 1st is still up for him to decline. The fact that EP can come in and put up a possible 90 pts for less than a million for 3 years is the draw for me. Especially since my largest window to win is the next 3 seasons. I’ll leave it up for the rest of the day. Home risk at it’s finest.lol.
I probably have enough firepower to compete at the top and maybe I do need more of these young assets to push me past losing production from the Malkin types in 3 years..... I have a pretty solid farm since this is our 1st season and we just completed the draft. I can lose a few good prospects and trust my drafting to have a few more playing for me sooner than later.
