I agree that President Trump has "not done anything" harmful to the Canadian energy industry.
We will not be able to write the same thing about a Harris/Biden administration.
Very on brand for Trumpets to think "I can't be racist I know black people".

That's speculation at best with no basis in fact. Just like the stock market claims. Which actually, based on fact, are false. Trump has demonstrably been worse for the stock market.
Trump has not done anything beneficial for the Canadian energy industry. He will continue to not do anything beneficial for the Canadian energy industry.

The stock market was chugging along at record levels until the virus from China was unleashed upon the world.
President Trump will be better for traditional energy than the people who are on record as wanting to "wind it down" and "phase it out."
#FACTS
It's also arguably false that Trump hasn't been harmful to the Canadian energy industry. Oil and gas legislation and tax cuts have caused production in the US to surge even more, hurting demand for imports. Now. Should that factor into his decisions? Obviously no. Has it hurt the Canadian energy industry all the same? Demonstrably yes.
^ None of that as harmful as ignoring the Harris/Biden claims to phase out traditional energy. This is not complicated.
"Chugging along" would indicate it was continuing to go at the same pace it had already been going at. Which, obviously yes. However, every president deals with obstacles and it is their job to handle those obstacles. Qualifiers don't count. Statistics do. Simply put, Trump has drastically underperformed Obama. That's just facts. No qualifiers, no excuses.
A worldwide pandemic is not a typical obstacle - only a disingenuous liberal hack would attempt to claim otherwise.
Correct. It's not complicated. Trump has been harmful to Canadian traditional energy. That is a fact. Biden might be, but we don't know. Either way, US policy tangentially affects Canada, and Canadian policy impacts Canada far more. Anything Biden does in four years won't be more harmful than anything Trump has done the last four years.
You can yell into the wind "that's not true" all you want, but the fact of the matter is, just like the stock market, there absolutely is no way to know. Any claims you make to the contrary are false bluster and transparent scare tactics with no basis in fact. It's trumpet talking points from your daddy, like a good little Trumpet does.

It's part of his responsibilities, and he's failed it.
Well then, hopefully he gets 4 more years to make it great again, again.
Anyways. Shouldn't have started arguing with someone living in a dreamland so far gone and past the basis of reality that facts and statistics will never matter nor will ever play a role in their life. Too far gone for that.
Apologies to everyone in the thread, saving one.
"I would transition away from the oil industry, yes," Biden said in the debate's final minutes
Excellent. Transitioning away is a great thing. It's overdue. Transitioning away implies funding alternatives while not completely destroying the current industry. More jobs could come as a result--investing in green energy would be a plus for the economy (longer term) and the environment.
Funny how this line is being used as an indictment, but I think it's an endorsement.
He didn't embrace AOC's Green New Deal -- not necessarily in terms of it's aims and goals, but it's ambitious and perhaps extreme (although a bit of extremity might be needed). But I hope he does begin looking into alternative energy sources. USA could and should be a world leader in this.
