I wouldn’t make that move right now.
eapecially if it’s for your team in signature.
With Bergeron, Marchand, Carlson, Wheeler and Vas - thats a team I want to try and go for the championship in the next couple seasons.
I may be looking to retool...would love some feedback and opinion on the proposal below;
RW - Blake Wheeler
4
RW - Ondrej Kase
RW - Caufield - MTL
D - Soderstrom - ARZ
Kase is clearly no Wheeler replacement, but I'm hoping he can find some magic in Boston.
Caufield and Soderstrom are Development roster prospects with 2 and 3 years eligibility respectively, before having to move active roster.

R - Nylander, Wheeler, Gallagher, Rust

I get retooling, and it can make a lot of sense with the right deal, but these kind of trades are how you get stuck rebuilding for multiple years. Caufield and Soderstrom are a couple years away, and retooling means you want help this year and/or next.
Pass on this one.

Not judging, just observing your league counts weird stats. Instead of pure points or full roto, you include 2 of the more questionable skater stats in +/- and PIMS. And instead of W, SO, etc you only count SV% and GAA. I don't think I see a lot of that in the forums.
Anyway, I agree with Penguin. With Bergeron, Marchand, Carlson and Wheeler, supported by Vas, Conner, Zibs, Josi, etc, you owe it to yourself to try and win it all before blowing this team up.
Questions:
1. Is it an auction league or a NHL cap of some sort?
2. What are your development roster and rules?
I agree you are a contender, so I'd likely not look to do this, but cap may be a reason you have to do something.

Your team is ready to win now. If you were tanking, this would be a great deal.

That's a terrible trade unless there is a prize for finishing last in the league.
Unless there are reasons we are unaware of, this is not a good deal for you at all.

Another Nay on the trade, looks like this team is in the win now mode. Only if yo tight on cap maybe

Its not the cap space that makes me consider the trade, its actually the fact that getting value for higher priced guys in this league is not easy to do, so moving Wheeler for two guys I believe can start getting a look in the near future, plus a guy who is in a good position in Boston to make some noise for the first time in his career. Its a fine line when you are still contending to move pieces like Wheeler, but thats how you retool and not force your way to rebuild.

So, it's not the cap space right now, per se, but the future cap room and flexibility you'd gain that has you thinking about it, is that correct?
I'd still like to know the answers to my questions above before weighing in.

League details are in my signature. It is a cap league, with an $80 limit for auction draft purposes only to round out 20 man roster. Once auction draft is done then acquiring high priced talent is not held against the team. You can go over the cap once the season starts.

I saw that, but I wasn't sure if it was auction or NHL salaries.
What are the salaries of the players involved?

Man, that seems like scraps for a quality player. I get it that you will have a hard time getting fair market value for him, but I think I'd just keep him and enjoy the ride as long as he's productive. So far, he's still a high end player in the league and still a solid fantasy asset. You can't say that about anything you are getting back and "hoping" they turn into something. I like Caufield and Soderstrom but man, not sure I'd bite here.

No way I am moving Wheeler for those "pieces and parts". There is still a decent amount of tread on his tires.
