All are worthy, but it's Nathan Mackinnon for me.
The rangers had other players step up this year and have carear performances.
Edmonton has McDavid.
Nathan Mackinnon put the team on his back.
Same finalists as the Ted Lindsay. Both votes will be close and I would not be surprised if any of the 3 wins either of the 2 awards.

Draisaitl for me.
Two of these candidates are far ahead of the third IMO. Both Panarin and Mack would be worthy winners.
Mack, he ran that team. No 1,2, punch like Draisaitl has with McDavid.

is how I think the voting goes down. Don't see Panarin winning when his team was outside the playoffs - regardless of play-in

I think this comes down to Leon and Nate and I have no idea who will win. I think both are deserving.

If we go by the pure definition: "player judged most valuable to his team" -
Take into account voters reluctance to vote for a player on a non-playoff team - that eliminates Panarin from consideration
It goes to MacKinnon.
#2 in scoring is Draisaitl's teammate. Who's more important to that team of those two? That's it's own debate.
Mack was without numerous pieces for large stretches of the season and just continued to produce and dominate.
Draisaitl was likely the best player in the league this year... but Mack was more valuable to his team during the season.

Leon wins the Hart.
Hard to believe, but one PHWA voter didn't even have Draisaitl on his ballot at all. Dom Luszczyszyn (holy crap thats a lot of z's) from The Athletic didn't have Draisaitl on his ballot. I dont know who was on his ballot for voting but this was his reasoning for leaving Draisaitl off his ballot when challenged about it.

What a joke! I guess the rest of the league that voted him as the Lindsay winner don't know what they are talking about either.i would rather not have any attention for this tbh, but the idea that draisaitl MUST be a top five player because he had the most points is archaic. he was bad defensively this year and that should hold some merit. putting thought outside sorting by points isn’t bush league
Edit: I found out this was his top five votes for the Hart Trophy in order:

Nathan MacKinnon

Yeah, these are the reasons I dont pay for content at the Athletic lol.
Congrats to Leon. What a year. Shame it was cut short. Guess he will havevl to do it again next year!
Dom is correct but the people that think he isn't is completely on brand.
"This is why I don't pay for The Athletic" = "I don't have any interest in progressing my knowledge of the game and getting smarter, I prefer to live in the past".
We always have this debate every year with the Hart. I don't doubt he's a great player but most valuable to his team? Smh.
Goalies: If I'm pickin em you best be sittin em!
Dom is also far from the only person who doesn't think Leon is the MVP. Its not some major egregious crime to think he might be the 6th-10th best player in the league.Scott Cullen @ByScottCullen 11h
I'll admit to being surprised that the No. 1 most valuable player in the NHL couldn't prevent his team from being outshot and out-chanced when he was on the ice at evens.
