I would pass
For the team in my sig, would you trade Chucky, a mid 7th & mid 10th to get RNH, a high 5th & high 6th? I love that all my keepers are so young, but pick upgrades are always nice too. Thoughts?

I would say no as well. However, can you give us an idea of who is normally available around those picks? Sounds like only 72 players are kept, so the upgrades may be worth it. But I don't think Tkachuk is worth it.

Overall I'd say the top few rounds are quite filled with talent, but it's definitely diminishing returns after that. Now he's offering his mid 4th & high 6th. A bit better, but maybe not enough.
I'd be the one giving Chucky and getting Nuge. Yes, there are 72 kept.

It's a pretty tough call and a lot closer than it originally looks like.
The trade is essentially Tkachuk, and two later-round picks for RNH and possibly players like Duchene and Makar in a points-only pool (depending on how well you draft).
I would go for it. In a points-only pool, Tkachuk and RNH are not that far apart (tied in points this year, and Tkachuk led by nine points last year). Tkachuk's upside is higher, but I feel like a pool like this, Tkachuk will probably be replaced next year as a keeper anyways. If you were able to get a top goalie, for example, that goalie would probably replace Tkachuk.
The only thing is that he seems to really want this trade as he keeps moving up the picks. I would see if you could acquire couple of higher picks. Say something like you've been thinking a lot about it, and you're really hesitant to move a 75-point 22-year-old player, and you could only do it if he is willing to part with (and choose two draft picks, say second and fourth or something like that).

Thanks for this! As I looked at the draft list it made me realize it wasn't so bad of an offer either, haha. Great analysis! I'll try to squeeze a little more out of him.

Yeah, the trick is how well you draft. You could wind up with Makar and Hamilton (which makes it a great trade), or Skinner and Kakko (which doesn't).

So true! Generally I have more hits than misses. Use Fantasy Hockey Geek to my advantage and usually do very well in this league. Just did a double swap - mid 4th and top of round 6th for mid 7 and mid 10. Now my worst pick is in the 6th (13 rounds). That helps a LOT with depth for my team. Also gives me a keeper that's easy to upgrade or replace with someone next season.

I'd do that deal. I think in points only they are pretty close, and you ge tpick upgrades.
Want a Signature? Go to Settings, and you'll find Edit Signature down the list on the left.
I would take the deal, as in Points only Matthew's Value is lower and that pick upgrade helps out with the small downgrade from Tkachuk to Nuge.
12 team deep keeper league, 17 main roster players, 5 prospect players, max 2 goalie keepers for the main roster. point breakdown goes as follows:
Skaters:
G is 4 points, 5.2 points for D goals. A is 2.5 points, 3.25 points for defense. 0.07 per FOW, 0.2 points for blocks, hits, and SOG 0.5 points for PIMS and +/-, 3 for SHG, 1.5 for SHA.
Goalies:
GS is 1.5 points, -1 for GA, 0.2 for SV, 4 for SHO, and 3 for W.

In a points only, I prefer RNH over Tkachuk so getting pick upgrades is bonus gravy. The Oilers have had the NHL's best powerplay since they started playing RNH with Draisaitl and McDavid. Those 3 are locks on the PP for as long as RNH is an Oiler. RNH is also firmly entrenched on the wing with one of McDavid or Draisaitl. I can't see the Oilers going back to McDavid and Draisaitl on the same line for the foreseeable future. Based on those two facts, RNH is going to get more points than Tkachuk over the next few years. Moving up about 40 picks twice in addition to getting the more player who's going to get you more points makes this a steal of a trade for you.
