I mean Trump is probably right with this tweet but... What?
(sidenote: it's kinda crazy I'm now defending a Trump tweet and Auston's Willy is opposed to it?)
Is Trump now claiming (by now I mean April 30th at 5:45am EST because it could change by day's end) That the United States made the correct decision to "shutdown" via the numerous "shelter in place orders"?
That would make sense as all of these orders, which are issued by states governors and not Trump, are made in accordance with Trump's administration recommendations and his proposed "14 days to flatten the curve".
That's all well and good.
But does this also meant that he currently agrees with the shelter in place orders (which again are in accordance with his administration's recommendations) because as of 6 days ago he was tweeting for the "liberation" of Minnesota, Michigan and Virginia and was supporting protesters who were protesting shelter in place orders in those states. Ergo, he was opposed to the shelter-in-place orders (again that were in accordance with his administration) which were the a “lockdown” of society and the economy. But today he tweets about how Sweden is “paying heavily” for not locking down.
Trump at the same time is currently (I think, this is 2 days old) in favour of re-opening the state of Florida. Florida’s supposed strategy is to have high risk people stay at home at let the rest of the population return to more normal operations. This is of course the strategy that Sweden has employed, the strategy that Trump is attacking in the tweet above.
In conclusion, I agree with what Trump has tweeted above because that is what the bulk of the pandemic experts have consistently said and I like to trust science and the experts who study it.
However, I’m not sure who Trump can reconcile his criticism of Sweden’s approach with his praise for states re-opening and his continual comments that he wants to get the “economy going again”.
