I'm sure a lot of us are in the same boat. Off of work, home with young kids and need to keep them occupied while trying our best not to leave the house. For me personally, I am in Ontario which is pretty much completely shut down (as of Sunday night) and am a father to two young, energetic boys - 6 yrs and 4 yrs old. I need to occupy these two little guys for their sanity and mine. So I figured I would share a list of activities I have thought up to share with you all, but also ask for some suggestions and creative ideas. Not sure if any other Canadians have heard yet, but at the time of posting Alberta is closing schools indefinitely and could run up until this coming September. Only a matter of time until other provinces and states follow suit. Anyways, we need to occupy these children and I'm sure we could all use some help with ideas, so here is what I have come up with so far....
Mini-sticks of course
Any kind of indoor or backyard sports you can manage
Walks to the park while we can - including short bike rides
Schooling/learning activities
Charades
Indoor fort building
Arts and Crafts - colouring, painting.... any other craft ideas?
Board games
Video games
Play-doh
Scavenger hunts
Cooking/baking
Wrestling
Puzzles
Musical games or try to learn basics of how to play an instrument - if feasible
Chores for rewards
Kids yoga/dance
That's all I have for now. Any additions is greatly appreciated. I hope my list helps some of you guys out.
Stay safe guys, we'll beat this together.

where does Canada stand as far as government shutdown on things? I'm in New York and tonight restaurants/bars go out of commission and nothing above 50 people allowed.

It coming here too. Drivethrus open but restaurants closed. Border closed except for US citizens and Canadians abroad being urged to come home.
On topic: good time to teach the kids basics of life. Cooking, cleaning, laundry, oil changes, showing patience, how banks work and handling finances and bills.
Some businesses in Hamilton have turned to a "takeout only" restaurant. Couple of breweries in Hamilton are doing a take-out/implementing a drivethru system so you can't even go inside the building. One place has gone to credit card and debit card only to avoid cash.
The next step that will happen is delivery only. I feel like that's happening before Canada/Ontario says, "Shut it down"

Our schools in Alberta are of course closed, but the learning is moving online. We will have a pretty structured routine for our kids on a daily basis.
Physical Activity time, reading time, time for online learning, time for handwritten work, meals, and down time. Same time every day, but change up some of the activities. Kids thrive on structure and I am actually looking forward to doing it, even though it's going to take quite a bit of work and there will be a lot of push back at first when they realise that it's not Super Smash Bros in their jammies all day.
Let's be honest, most kids dont go outside and play like they used to. Most kids self isolate already with a game controller in their hands.

We've been doing much of the same thing that Duster Dave mentioned.
Here in Ottawa, the skating arenas are shut down, but there are four or five outdoor skating pads that are still open. We went to one of them yesterday morning, and there were only five other people there. That might be an option if you have one wherever you are.

I did this with my 8yr old yesterday. Solid 4 1/2 hours to build a device that would pour cereal into her bowl.

We have purchased a lot of board/card games over the past year or so. It's helping keep things fresh. You can only play so much Ticket to Ride
Dutch Blitz
Saboteur
Ravine
Smallworld
7 Wonders
Exploding Kittens
Unstable Unicorns
Ticket to Ride
These games are all so different from one another that it keeps things fresh for all of us. Our daughter is happy playing Unicorns or Kittens every damn night. but the other games really help it from getting stale.
We also finally broke down and bought Minecraft ... but screen time gets limited .. so that only helps to an extent
