Matthews and Kerfoot I would think is the benefactors right now.
Tavares out with a broken finger...who’s the big winner here for his ice time?

I'd guess that Kerfoot and Mikheyev stick together and move up to be with Marner.
3rd line becomes Kapanen-Gauthier/Spezza-Moore?
Gotta think Spezza and Goat are the biggest benefactors until JT returns. Neither should get scratched until November.
I wouldn't be surprised if they throw something like this out:
Johnsson - Matthews - Mikheyev
Moore - Nylander - Marner
Timashov - Kerfoot - Kapanen
Spezza - Gauthier - Petan

I would love to see what Matthews and Marner can do together, but unlikely to happen under Babcock.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Nylander move to C.
Nailed it.

#Leafs lines at practice:
Johnsson-Matthews-Nylander
Mikheyev-Kerfoot-Marner
Moore-Spezza-Kapanen
Timashov-Shore-Gauthier
Petan, Hyman
Rielly-Ceci
Muzzin-Barrie
Marincin-Holl
Gravel-Dermott
Andersen
Hutchinson
Some pre-practice power play work going on for #Leafs. Looking like William Nylander will slide into John Tavares' bumper spot on the top unit.
Nylander as the bumper...he's got some soft hands and his forechecking is pretty strong to disrupt breakouts. He could be a really solid add on the PP1

A strength of this team is the ability to swallow the loss of someone like Tavares and keep trucking ahead.
Now if we can fix the back end.
I'm also getting more on board with replacing Babcock - sooner rather than later.
Side Note:
Joseph Woll - 1st career AHL start = 23sv shut out.

The leafs have won 24 of their last 50 regular season games. That’s only one more than Edmonton.

I follow quite a few hardcore Leafs fans on twitter, and the sentiment with Babcock has sure shifted this year. Fans understand that this window is closing rapidly, if it hasn't already. And Babcock seems to coach with his ego/gut instead of just playing the team Dubas intended him to.
Speaking of Dubas, fans on twitter are fed up with his one way approach. There are a tonne of traditional Leafs fans and most of them believe every team needs balance. The Blues winning the cup really reinforced this notion (although, in my own opinion, the Blues' grittiness is a little overrated).
Dubas wants skill and speed and doesn't put much weight on intangibles like team toughness.
This philosophy seems to be wearing thin with many fans. Quickly.
