Can this guy make a friggin' save?
I have him in two pools. He's single-handedly killing my goalie cats.
He's probably going to get pulled again.

Goal-tending is such a fickle business, and Bobrovsky is the ficklest of the bunch. The guy can go from playing like an AHL back up to a Vezina contender from one month to the next. I know this doesn't help the OP, but knowing what to expect from Bobrovsky eases the shock for new owners. I owned him in my signature league for years and released him when he signed in Florida. He is incredibly frustrating to own.
Now I'm dealing with a different sort of goalie issue with Varlamov splitting time with Greiss. At least with Bobrovsky you know he's going to play a lot of games.

New team with a new coach and a new system and goalie who has traditionally started slow throughout his career.... wait until American Thanksgiving to make a judgement on this one. He's way to good to give up on and unless you're playing in a 4 team league that drafts 1 goalie each you arn't replacing him with anything better...

there are so few "sure things" when it comes to NHL goal-tending...Vasilevskiy is about the only one right now that I have complete faith in. Almost every other goalie is a crap shoot, with quality backups behind them (Rask, Rinne), injury issues to worry about (Price), or the fact they play for really crappy teams (Gibson).

bob is good goalie, bob is not top 2 goalie in NHL and thats how he was drafted as soon as he signed in Florida. He also go traded in 2 of my 3 dynasty leagues for massive amounts...people jump on "hot stuff" does not mean hype is always real. Petterson was going to be an MVP of the league this year too...
Having said that i think Bob will be top 10-15 goalie by end of year..just not that big stud after Vasil.

Although I agree that Bob is/was highly sought-after in most drafts/trades this past summer, I don't think that was necessarily unjustified compared to most other goalies out there, aside from Vasilevskiy. Dobber hasn't updated his goalie rankings since August, but at that time he had Bob#3 after Vasilevskiy and Andersen. I think that is a fair spot to consider Bob. I'd personally have Binnington and Grubauer quite high on my personal list, but both are relatively unproven which probably makes them fall lower on most other people's lists. Holtby would be high on most lists, especially this past off-season, but his poor play since the season started and Samsonov's emergence (and Holtby's pending UFA status coupled with Washington's cap situation) probably drops Holtby down quite a few slots right now. I mean, I mentioned this above, but there just aren't many "sure fire" goalies out there right now. Across the board, other than Vasilevskiy I can't think of a single goalie who doesn't have some sort of issue or concern associated with him. It is fair not to be a fan of Bobrovsky and his inconsistent play, but even with that inconsistency he is still arguably a top 5 goalie (arguably top 3) in fantasy circles.

There are several goalies who have struggled out of the gate. I think some with right the ship including Bob and Holtby soon. Just give em time.
You are vastly underestimating Bobrovsky, as is the guy who says he is the most fickle goalie.
He has as many Vezina trophies as his number of average or below average years (I'm excluding this current season, but including everything else including the Bryzgalov's backup experiment year in Philly)
His quality start percentage over his career is over 58% with 53% being about league average. Fickle is when you get around 50%, and don't know what you are going to get. For example, see Fleury over the years.
He's an elite goalie, who has changed teams and normally starts slow. If this is a guy you don't want anywhere near your roster, you should draft his backup, and the backups of a few other workhorses, and make sure to simply get no goalie starts all year by making sure you can bench them when they are announced as the starter.
