I think his consistency and success in international competition are also important elements. Of course it's not a guarantee he's going to tear it up in the NHL, but there are more indicators for that then being a bust. Three great KHL seasons in a row, dominated the Olympics last year (lol) and the World Championships this year, well over 1.5 points per game over those international tournaments. He's been over point per game combined through the last three seasons' deep playoff runs. There is a lot to like with this player.

You could say similar things about Nigel Dawes and Linus Omark to name a few.
As I say, the KHL is not a way to compare someone's NHL abilities. Some do well there and come over to the NHL and succeed, but I'm willing to bet the numbers don't look good if you try and see how many don't do well here compared to being successful there.

I'd definitely prefer Forsberg, especially if you've got Goals/Shots/Hits. I don't think Gusev will be a big-time goal scorer or peripherals guy, he's a little dude and I don't think he plays very physically. He's definitely going to be better in points-only type of formats.

Here’s Vegas’ current status:
They have the full roster limit of 13 forwards, 8 defensemen & 2 goalies not including the injured Tuch & Eakin.
Tuch is week to week & will likely start the season on IR. If Eakin can play, they need to make one more cut. If not they’re set.

The Golden Knights have placed Alex Tuch on the IR, and reassigned Nic Hague and Nicolas Roy to the AHL. Cody Eakin remains off the IR, leaving it open for him to play tomorrow, although Gallant said he doesn’t expect him to play. #VegasBorn
SinBin.vegas@SinBinVegas
The Golden Knights have purchased the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL. They will be relocated to Las Vegas/Henderson and will begin playing in 2020-21, pending league approval (which they will get).
