Didn't Mario get to 100 in like 38 games one year?
So I just wanted to give a shout out here as I haven't seen anything.
He's the fastest guy to reach 70 points in the last 20 years. He did it in 43 games. Jagr did it in 38 games in 1999 (how different the game is now).
The last 4 games and really his whole season have been amazing. To think he started the year slow by his recent standards.
If he can get a point tonight does anyone know who the last guy was to get to 100 quicker than kuch?

At what point does the debate get brought up that he's a more valuable keeper than McDavid?

Pretty sure gretz has the record at 100 points in 34 games. Just ridiculous.
I'm curious on who was the most recent. Mario or jagr is a good bet for recency near the end of the 90s there.

It's a fair argument to make right now. The biggest difference has to be quality of teamates and kuch is going to have an advantage there over mcdavid for several years.

That's 100 points this year with the goal tonight. First lightning player to have multiple 100 point seasons.
Let's see if he can make it 101 in overtime!

What a season. I hope he wins the Hart.
I hate to be that guy.
But I feel like what Kane’s doing is more impressive then Kucherov.
Kane supporting cast isn’t even close to Kucherovs. And Kane’s on a 19 game point steak. And is only sitting 8 points back.
Kuch is the first player since 1996 to get to 100 points before March 1st. 23 years after both Lemieux (161 points in 70 GP) and Jagr did it.
Full respect to P. Kane this season and what he's doing is amazing... But kuch and the bolts are running away with the NHL right now. He's my MVP if it were chosen today (The fact that P. Kane even has a shot right now is amazing, I don't think anyone else does. Mackinnon, rantanen, and mcdavid are out of it this year as far as I'm concerned. Kane would have to continue pushing kuch the rest of the way AND the Blackhawks would have to get in the playoffs for him to be considered, imo).

Really hard to vote against him for MVP. Not even close imo.
How isnt it close?
Hes only 8 points up on Kane. And hes got a way better team playing around him. More scoring, better Defense, better goalie etc.
If the blackhawks make it into the playoffs its because of Kane. To me thats more MVP then a guy whos a few points ahead but has amazing supporting cast. Tampa would be a playoff team if Kucherov would of got hurt. You cant say that about Chicago. Only reason they are close is because of Kane.
As of right now if Chicago makes the playoffs Kane has my vote.
And Im a HUGE kucherov fan. I got multiple jerseys of his 😁
Kucherov would win by default especially if the guys directly beneath him in scoring race are on non-playoff teams. That's how the voters would vote. Personally, I'm skeptical. He's not a player that logs big minutes. He produces a ton of offense in his role but is he even Tampa's MVP? Maybe, depends how you break it down.
I'd be giving dmen a closer look this year for MVP. Or just give it to Barry Trotz.
