I'll take the over just because records are made to be broken. Vegas' 4th line has been quite the story this season.
Yes
No
William Carrier is currently on pace to pass the current record for most HITS in a regular season held by Matt Martin (382 in 2014-15).
He has currently played 44 games and has 219 hits (avg 5/gp) but he is currently out with an illness, Vegas has 37 games remaining which would be another 185 for Carrier putting him at 404 total.
Do you think he can do it?

not if he stays on IR with his "illness" ... cough ... cough ... PIRRI
if he gets back and stays in the line up, then yes. that 4th line has been good enough to get more ice time than most 4th lines - that helps

I'm going no, due to him needing to stay healthy, but it's possible. So glad I grabbed him off waivers - he's great in multi-cat: shots, PIM, hits+blocks are all good in my multi-cat league.

Yes, for me.
These guys (PIM, HIT guys) know exactly where they are related to their peers/records/stats.
Matt Martin was pacing around 4.5 hits/GP in his record-breaking year... and tuned it up to 5-6 hits/GP in the 2nd half.
Additionally, I believe rinks have their own statisticians - who can tend to get a little liberal with dishing out stats to those that get them.
Statisticians LOVE being part of a record... even passively as just the guy that tallied some of them.
One wouldn't think Kris Russell should block any more shots just because a game is in Edmonton... but somehow the stats say just that.

(No I don't have a hockey problem...)
It's known that statisticians in the NBA & NFL matter when awarding certain things, particularly things like assists, assisted tackles, and passes defensed. Part of the home court/field/ice advantage is fans influencing refs, but there's also often a small bias from statisticians.
Sometimes the statistician is really involved in the record.

Really need Carrier back on my team, would be cool to see him beat this record!
Frozen Tools has him on pace for 388 assuming he plays all games moving forward.

So does anyone have any information about when he might be back in the line up??? What is this "illness"? He's a one man category winner but it helps if he's on the ice (:

Well, it looks like he may not be able to break the record with the amount of time he has missed.
No updates on his injury either!

PS. Did I jinx him or what!?
