    Default Wheeler for Forsberg, Nylander and a second

    Had someone constant inquiring for wheeler
    current offer is ;

    forsberg , 2nd rnd , 3rd rnd
    for

    wheeler , 4th and 10th

    im interested if he throws in Nylander.

    He he sits second in standings and I’m in 8th

    Would you take first offer ( lower age , and a pick ?)

    or up it to steal rap an underperforming Nylander and set up for next year?

    thoughts / Advice ??

    Is Nylander even a keeper for you next year if you made this deal? I'm not sure he would be in a keep 6.

    The offer isn't bad, but it makes no sense as you don't have a 4th round pick to give. Instead of trying to get Nylander, I'd focus on getting more or better picks.

    once you get into the smaller keepers - 8 or less (it's important in all limited keeper formats, but moreso in smaller ones) that you hold the best six keepers as possible.

    FF a downgrade on Wheeler & yeah, I agree with ALS - I don't see Nylander being a keeper for you.

    Right now you could argue your keepers would be - Ovie, Marchand, Panarin, Wheeler, Jones, Holtby - you would downgrade your 4th F -

    the picks are attractive but are they really worth downgrading a keeper spot? I dunno. This is the type of deal you make if you're out of it and playing for next year. I'd consider moving your non-keepers for picks.

    See if the OGM would take Dadanov for a 2nd & 3rd instead - That is, if you're throwing in the towel

    My thoughts were that getting younger players for wheeler ( 32 ) seemed like a good futures move ,

    Sitting 8th out of 12 teams ,
    my 4th was a 2020 pick
    and agree it would be a throw in the towel move on the year.

    The dadanov move idea would be a better option agreed.

    Sitting 8th in the pack has led to lots of offers on Wheeler And Jones .... but been declining most, waiting for 1st rnd picks

    My thinking - In a keep 6, Wheeler has a couple high end years left - bleed those dry. There are no rebuilds in a keep 6. Each year is essentially a reset - which is why your 6 must be as strong as possible. Only if you're 6 were weak, would I consider trading for two lesser players - to give more depth (only if needed) I don't think it is here.

    Wheeler will still be Wheeler next year. You plan for next years draft - accumulate picks while not jeopardizing the 6 you keep.

    If he took an 8 or 9 plus your 10 I would do this deal. I think you can keep one of your D in place of Wheeler and get a big upgrade in picks if he takes the later rounds. The value of going from 8/9/10 to 2/3 will offset the production in losing Wheeler imo

    I bolded the most important comment here...I couldn't agree more. Unless you are getting a true superstar, young player, you don't downgrade in such a limited keeper league.

    So , understanding - hold wheeler because of above reasoning in limited keeper league
    unless ;

    picks were more / higher

    or young superstar ... does Nylander / forsberg not count ?

    Who would count as enough for wheeer ?? ... Petterson ?

    I can't really say what players would make sense in a deal...Pettersson for sure, but I doubt you could get him.

    Deals for aging veterans who still have a few good years left in them are hard to judge. You have to perhaps look for another team that is in a clear win-now mode and might be willing to trade a young player with upside for a current 90 pt player like Wheeler. Or, you could go the opposite and package Wheeler with some good picks to get a young player with higher draft picks. Say something like Wheeler and 2nd round pick for Pastrnak and 4th round pick. Maybe the Eichel owner is tired of all the injuries and growing impatient? It is really hard to say which player to target.

    Wheeler for Forsberg and Nylander isn't a horrible deal, but it is quite possible that Nylander wouldn't even be a keeper for you, so you'd be essentially downgrading Wheeler for Forsberg.

    I am in the Bottom 5, and traded my Wheeler straight up for Draisaitl and I'm happy about it. Wheeler was my 3 year guy going into this year (4 last year), and I got a new guy to sign to 4 in the off-season that's younger and with big upside. Plus Drais is c/lw/rw eligible.
