Desmith, a #1 goalie?
Desmith will be an UFA at the end of the season. Do you guys think he has a shot to be a #1G one day? I haven’t see him play that much so it’s hard for me to say. But his stats looks pretty good in the NHL so far. Thanks

I think the new speed era of the NHL is doing a number to goaltending. As I mentioned in another thread, is anyone really reliable these days? If Desmith can keep putting up good stats he'll get a chance at being #1 at some point, somewhere. I don't even think staying in Pittsburgh is a bad thing, given Murray is so injury-prone and inconsistent.

I haven't seen him much but his stats say that, yes, he has a shot to be a team's #1 goalie. Really, that's all we can do is eliminate possibilities until we've seen a significant body of work at the NHL level.
