I read a few articles yesterday that suggested both Penguins and Oilers are looking to move on from each player. Do you think this could be a one-for-one between each team? I know the Penguins are linked to a possible Tanner Pearson trade. Wouldn’t it be much a better option to pursue a much needed younger talent on an aging roster in Pittsburgh? Both kids could use a change of scenery, neither of them are getting a fair shake in their respective organizations.

I don't think calling this a real trade rumour is correct lol.
I also don't see it. The reasons either can't get in the lineup in their respective organizations are similar. A change of scenery doesn't fix that.
I didn’t specially say that there was rumours that link both teams are in trade talks. Darren Dreger suggested both teams may be looking to move on from each player. Mostly spitballing. As far the title goes to being a real rumour, I wasn’t making up the “rumour”, it was actually suggested by an insider so I why I chose “real”.

Here I thought I had been reading Sprong to LA FOR Pearson rumours.
Follow me on twitter: @doylelb4
I think all three names (Pearson included in those three) are floating around so it only makes sense to try and put 1 + 1 together to make 2.
That being said, if there's one thing I have noticed when it comes to threads started in here (and I have started my fair share as well), the percentages are extremely low on them coming to fruition. Just sayin'.

It's not uncommon for teams to swap their problems hoping it lights a fire. The Penguins themselves did this when they acquired Hagelin. I'm also not sure if these two specifically are traded for each other but I think there will be some deals coming.

The thing about this is that Sprong's underlying numbers have been really good in limited minutes with suboptimal linemates. He should be getting cracks higher up in the lineup instead of scratched.

Really? Has he really been put in ideal situations and given numerous opportunities?
Lets look at his stats page:
https://frozenpool.dobbersports.com/...sse-puljujarvi
So far this season, he's averaging 12:00 mins per game. Does that really sound like he's getting lots of opportunities and ideal situations? Last season, he played in 65 games and averaged 13:22 mins per game. Again, does that sound like big minutes/ideal situations to you? Time on the ice for PP? This season, 0:50 mins per game, last season, 0:45 mins per game.
I am sorry, but the Oilers are NOT putting him in ideal situations or giving him plenty of opportunities. When you are saddled to Ryan Strome most nights, that says a lot. Clearly McLellan doesn't trust him out there in ideal situations.

I said has been put - as in, in the past, ideal situations. I agree, currently he's not being given opportunities, but you can't deny that he's been strapped on a line with McJesus at various points over the past couple seasons.
I think most guys would rather play along side Strome than the likes of Riley Sheahan.
Btw, Sprong is Averaging a whopping 8 1/2 minutes a night, in comparison.

So it's an imagined rumour, but it's based on real information.
Generally if I see real, I figure it's a credible source who has put forth this rumour. In this case, those names are out there and you're floating the idea that they could be swapped for each other, so you are imagining this rumour.
I think it's a fine idea, swapping problem players from each team in hopes that they turn it around. I see it as being more attractive to the Penguins than the Oilers, but Edmonton has a history of bonehead moves, so I could see it happening.
