Strome vs Borgstrom

Saying Stepan is not entrenched as 1st C in Arizona is frankly ridiculous IMO.

He's 3rd line C on Florida. If Strome/Dvorak or Chucky put it all together... do they just ignore it? Stepan's the #1, for now, because no one else has stepped up, but he's not Crosby, Matthews, Barkov, Getzlaf, etc... he's #1 by default. He's a good 1C - he'd be a much much better #2C.

If Stepan is your #1C, you will never win a Cup. You need more depth than this. Before Arz. can take that next step - Stepan MUST become their #2C.

I wanted to find some cap space to put Chabot in my farm team and have Giordano as my 6th defenseman.
I found it hard to choose between Strome and Borgstrom, so I made this move instead

I swapt P. Kane + Saros + Mete for Bergeron + Giordano

-Saros was my 2nd goalie (we only activate one) and I probably won't be able to keep him next season (expansion rule..)
-Switching Kane for Bergeron is hurting me a little bit (specially with Bergeron injury history)... but we can activate a backup when a player is injured. Konecny will step in!

What do you think of my move?

Looking at both groups of top 6 - I don't see where/how Borgstrom fits in... at all or when.

Strome on the other hand - basically 1st, 2nd C is there for the taking. Neither Stepan or Chucky are entrenched. Neither of them would bump Troch or Barkov either.

Not to mention PP opportunity. I mean, Fla is choosing between Dad & Hubs as the 4th forward - again Borgstrom is pinched tightly into PP2 corner. Arz will play Strome almost out of Default on the PP1

I keep Strome of the 2.

Borgstrom is expected to start the season at wing. He still has Dadonov, Huberdeau, Hoffman and Bjugstad ahead of him but that still gives him a better chance than overtaking Barkov or Trocheck.

But I don't disagree with the point being made in this post. Strome's opportunity is much better, and the path ahead looks much easier for top line minutes.

Fair enough and I agree with your points. I would say that Dvorak/Strome are at least 2 years away from being #1 center worthy though, while Galchenyuk is a bit of an enigma in my eyes still. I'm leaning towards Galchenyuk never becoming even close to the center that Stepan is.
