yikes, that's really unfortunate ... unless you're a Derek Stepan owner.
Coyotes forward Alex Galchenyuk is listed as week to week with a lower-body injury. He is not expected to be ready for Opening Night.

Coyotes GM John Chayka tells @DougandWolf987 that C Alex Galchenyuk’s injury has been “addressed.” Now it’s about getting him back in the lineup. They don’t view it as a long-term injury.

From DailyFaceoff:
The Coyotes placed Alex Galchenyuk (lower-body) on injured reserve.
Galchenyuk was already expected to miss the first few weeks of the season, so moving him to the IR was simply a formality to open up a roster spot. With Galchenyuk out, Dylan Strome is expected to take on a larger role in the Coyotes offence early in the season.
Per Coyotes president of hockey ops/GM John Chayka, C Alex Galchenyuk (LBI) has been cleared for contact. There is no timetable yet for his return, but this is obviously a big step in that direction. Galchenyuk skated this morning w/the Coyotes before Tuesday's game in Minnesota.

Now lets see what happensTUE, OCT 23, 10:33 AM
ROTOWIRE.COM
Galchenyuk (lower body) will make his season debut versus the Blue Jackets on Tuesday.
Spin: In a figurative sense, Galchenyuk couldn't return a minute too soon, as the Coyotes have struggled to a 2-5-0 start to the new season. Chucky -- who dropped 19 goals and 32 assists over 82 games with the Habs in 2017-18 -- figures to slide right in as the top-line center with Lawson Crouse and Clayton Kelle at sides. Naturally, that assignment comes with a spot on the No. 1 power play as well, but the team ranks 30th in the league in that special team situation, so don't expect immediate results.
