They'll find a way to make it work. It might actually hurt both a bit (only so much puck to go around) but it'll help the team as a whole.

I'm wondering how this benefits or not Burns

The Sens have traded Erik Karlsson and Francis Perron to SJ for a 1st rd pick in 2019 or 2020, C-Chris Tierny, 2nd rd pick 2019, C-Josh Norris, LW-Rudolfs Balcers and D-Dylan DeMelo.
This is absolutely disgusting, isn't it? Poor Sens.

I drafted him in one of my leagues that conducted an early draft (12 team & I had the 12th pick). Waiting to see the trade analysis but I think I might regret the pick. But the matchup against Florida on Jan 21st should be interesting.
The big ripple effect will be who sees PP1 time. Those who don't will be really hurt, unless the split up Burns and Karlsson onto two different units or one/both play the full two minutes.

It's worth noting Burns has plenty of experience as a winger. Could be used closer to the net on the PP at times. Lots of versatility here.

Totally forgot the Burns had that dual eligibility until last year I believe. This trade may not hurt as bad as I thought.
Karlsson and Burns will both work the top PP unit, likely playing the full 2 minutes. This is a large amount of firepower coming from the back-end. Holy smokes.
It will be interesting to see who plays on PP1.

Maybe I'm looking too far into this, but do people see this affecting Burns' beastly shot totals? It was one of the first things that came to mind, in addition to PP time. It's what has made him especially valuable in a couple multi-cat leagues of mine but EK shoots quite a bit himself.
