Rotoworld reported a few weeks ago that he had not been cleared to return to the NHL. It was not clear if he was seeking to return and was denied or if he was not seeking to return at all.

A report out of Russia suggested that Voynov had been cleared to return to the NHL, but that isn't the case. The 28-year-old has been in the KHL for the last three seasons because he was suspended from the NHL for pleading no contest to a misdemeanor of corporal injury to a spouse. Slava Voynov injured his achilles heel, and is out for at least a month resulting in no KHL team wanting to sign him for now according to Alexey Shevchenko of Sport-Express.

I think it's very, very unlikely we ever see him in the NHL again. Teams are hopefully smart enough to avoid that PR nightmare.
