3rd Goalie-Talbot or Raanta?
Hey guys, I have a standard cats Yahoo league I joined and my 3 goalies are Vasilevskiy, Dubnyk and Talbot...Raanta is among the FA goalies. Should I grab him over Talbot as my third? I absolutely love Raanta based on what he did last season for my team but Talbot was also really good 2 years ago...how do you think each team will do this year?

Ohhh...that's a tough one. I think I would go with Talbot because he's done it over the course of a full season and has a bit more experience. I can see the temptation with Raanta though...I think I would chicken out and stick with the more established starter. I think both teams will probably be battling for wildcard positioning.

I would prefer Raanta I think, his underlying numbers are just fantastic and the team is on the rise. You can probably get some asset for Talbot, and then just add Raanta.

Raanta 100%. His numbers were great despite how much of a dumpster fire the Yotes were.

I'm with pmorrow here. And I'll add that Raanta, while impressive when he plays, hasn't played a 50 game season yet. I worry about him staying healthy, if you show up out of shape coming to training camp on a contract year and it's your first shot at being a starter how hard will you train in the offseason now that you've been paid? Though Tocchet did say he was impressed with Annti's attitude adjustment after he was called out.

Because your other goalies are geared more towards getting wins than percentage categories, I'd lean Raanta to help even the percentage cats out. It's close though, given that your system seems to reward goalies who play more, as opposed to goalies who perform better in limited starts.

I'd lean towards Raanta, but you have the luxury of streaming in a league that shallow, probably.
