Nice acquisition by the Yanks. Hopefully the return will be just as good for the Jays going forward.
I'm hearing BDrury is coming.
But that's just a rumour.

Boom, the Yankees needed him to battle the Sox.
Great job taking away assets from a rival by the Jays.

Drury is a good return for a rental in Happ. Although it seems he will run into the same problem he had in NY (playing time) unless the Jays trade Solarte.

Brandon Drury, 25yrs old (26yrs old in end of August)
2022 Free Agent Eligible.
Solarte is 32yrs old.
Club options in 2019 (5.5mill), 2020 (8mill), FA in 2021. Likely a FA in at the latest 2020, I can’t see anyone paying him 8mill. The buyout is 0.750mill.
I'm guessing they wanted Drury cause he's young? I dunno.
Drury has played (can play) DH, 1B, 2B, 3B. Was playing SS, and OF too in Arizona. But he’s a 3B.
They also got Billy McKinney (OF) in the trade.

Yawn. So a not so young kid that may or may not fit on to the Jay's roster? Great return for their Ace (said with tongue in cheek). Damn I'm happy I decided to disregard baseball this year. Last time I shunned a Toronto Team, the Leaf's turned into the Leafs currently. Fingers crossed... but I have no trust in this front office.
Good return all things considered. They weren't going to get a top prospect for Happ, even though the rumors stated that that was their original asking price.

More trades, trade everyone!!
#Shatkins needs to start proving their worth.. Come on Shapiro and Atkins..
Zorro says "vote for Dobber"
Angus is my best friend at dobberhockey..
havent followed the jays much this season so I guess I'm a band wagon fan but ....
is there a market for Donaldson or is he too injured ?
The 4.18 era is/was inflated. I listened to an entire interview about it. Considering the number of runs conceded by the inept relief, and an unusual number of them scoring from 1st base after the switch, coupled with one of the worst defensive teams in baseball behind him...
My point has less to do with the return and more to do with the management. These guys have left me wanting MUCH more as a fan with their only real success coming on the heels of what AA built. I don’t see the jays returning to the playoffs under this management (unless the format changes to allow more in).
Continuing to lose interest in this team which sucks. But I’m just a scorned fan, so take my views according you.
If there were better offers, safe to say they would have accepted those instead of this one. I guess you value players differently then Shapiro/Atkins who seem happy with the return.
If you follow the discussions going on via Twitter, there seems to be just as many people who dislike the trade vs those who like it for the Jays. To me, that seems like an even deal from a fans standpoint. It's certainly better then listening to EVERYONE complain about the return.

Happ in his last 5 starts:
1-3, 23IP (4.6IP/start), 30Hits, 22R, 17ER, 10walks, 28ks, 5HR, 6.65ERA, 0.306avg against, 0.376OBP against, 0.886OPS.
His value dropped over his last 5 starts. It could very well be bad luck/hiccup in the season, but it obviously dropped his value. He’s less efficient (in those 5 starts, throwing 97pitches), and two of those games not going to the 4th. His 2nd best game in the 5-game stretch was he went 3.2innings (error filled game)
His value dropped over the last month, simple as that. It was 1 game that had errors cause his outing to be bad, the rest was poor pitching. Interesting, besides that Boston game where there were 5runs, 0ER, he’s only given up 3 more runs than earned runs over his season. I understand ER vs Runs don't equal good defense, but I just found that interesting.
At 35yrs old, any bump in the road like he’s having now throws health red flags in the air, and even if he passes physicals, it’s still a question.
