They may seem laughable to you but from his perspective, it doesn't make much sense to trade someone like Dahlin unless you get someone great in return. Seems like a fair asking price from his side - but that doesn't mean you should be buying at that price. Sometimes there's just no deal to be made but it's good to put yourself in the shoes of the other GM as well and think what makes sense to him.

Agree. But I would not trade MacK for anyone in the league. Pastrnak is a close second, but a lower tier. I would consider Klingberg or Provorov though?

I would not trade Klingberg for Dahlin. You are hoping that Dahlin will be able to produce the numbers Klingberg does. I would consider Provorov if you can get an extra piece added in on his side.

Def get an extra half point for points. So 1.5 for every point. But we also get a - or + for their +/- in a game.

I'd trade Klinger. Worth the shot. Risk reward. As long as your not going to cry about it after a year when dahlin has 8 points as a rookie.

That absolutely hurts Dahlin.
Provorov was a +17 and Ristolainen was a -25 while averaging 26 mins a game. Dahlin is going to struggle for a while in the +/- category as a Sword. Say he's only a -10, that's a 27 point swing with a player like Provorov for example.

Provorov, Ivan
45 points x 1.5 = 67.5
+17 (+/-)
Total = 84.5

Dahlin, Rasmus
45 points x 1.5 = 67.5
-10 (+/-)
Total = 57.5

Dahlin would need to score 65 NHL points to match Provorov's fantasy production. And that's with Provorov scoring 45, not factoring in when he hits the 50 mark.

Quite honestly, I wouldn't not trade for Dahlin, I would just quit the league lol. That is a very bizarre scoring formula. Great players are brutally penalized for getting drafted by, or playing for, a bad team or in front of a sub par goaltender. This is bananas.
But no, on a completely serious level, I would not even consider overpaying for Dahlin in this format.

You are, and a severe case. I'd simply pass on trying to get him. You may really want him, but his upside is pretty much Klingberg. His downside is "not playing in the NHL" -it's a pretty unlikely downside, but it's possible.

I get tunnel vision a lot. It's cost me quite a bit. I get so focused on one guy and don't even consider the risks. I've really tried to tell myself that this coming draft, there are two guys only that I want. Svechnikov or Zadina. I only have one pick (made some horrible trades involving my picks) so I want to make sure I weigh all the pros and cons before deciding who I take. If Svechnikov goes 1st, I am taking Zadina. Or vice versa. I think Dahlin will be a solid player but I think he's going to take a few years before he maybe reaches his full potential. Even still, for my pool, we usually always take the forward over the D man. Just my thoughts.

these prices are way to steep... agree with fungchen as well... this is a really really wonky +/- set up. I hate it at the best of times but to have it control your rosters fate is awful

its hard to gauge in 10 team league as everybody has good rosters but im guessing you are close to top team, if so i have no clue why you would consider this...Dahlin maybe a stud but it will take 3-4 years for him to match Seth Jones even...

I lost in the finals of our league this year. I am not pulling offer for Rantenen because I told him that I would give him time to think.
