I was down watching some of the Canada-US game earlier. Really good hockey game from what I saw.
Halifax Moosehead Rafeal Lavoie player of the game for Canada. He's going to be a beauty and isnt draft eligible for another year yet.
The U18 Worlds is ongoing right now with second games ongoing at the moment.

I thought Lavoie was an odd choice. He didn't really do much besides the goals, and it wasn't like he made some huge plays to score them.
The players who impressed me from Canada were Smith, Merkley and Byram from 'D', and Dellandrea, Foudy and Lafreniere from their forwards. I thought Lafreniere was probably their best player in this game. McIsaac was completely invisible, I was expecting to see something from him. Same could be said about McBain who didn't even get any power play time - and that's without Joe Veleno and Aidan Dudas in the lineup.
From the US, I liked Bode Wilde from their 'D', and from their forwards I liked Hughes, Wahlstrom, Farabee and Caufield. Hughes was quiet early in the game but exploded in the third period.
Here are the power play units each team used:
Team Canada
Lafreniere-Dellandrea-Thomas-Smith-Merkley
McShane-Hillis-Noel-Byram-Tychonick
Team USA
Farabee-Hughes-Wise-York-Wahlstrom
Weiss-Turcotte-Caufield-Gruden-Wilde
Interesting that USA used just two defensemen (York and Wilde) while Canada used four (Smith, Merkley, Byram and Tychonick). Probably more about who's available than anything else, though.
McIsaac wasn't completely invisible. He did get some screen time from the penalty box.

Something about Farabee reminds me of Jeff Skinner, in a good way.
A lot of good performances from Team Canada today but they played against Belarus, so no surprises there. Lafreniere and Noel were perhaps the most impressive of them all.
Canada's power play still hasn't scored in this tournament, though. They went through a bunch of PP combinations in today's game and finally started using four forwards on their top unit in the 3rd period. Here are the final PP units they used:
Lafreniere-Dellandrea-Noel-Smith-Veleno
Fonstad-Hillis-McShane-Tychonick-Merkley
Thomas, McBain, Byram and McIsaac also saw some PP time earlier in the game.
Fonstad-Hillis-McShane play together at ES and they played well, so that's probably why they were used on the PP together as well.
I think this is regionally restricted to Canada but here is a clip of one of Lafreniere's goals.
