I thought my Jags were gonna trade for him.
Chiefs send Alex Smith (1yr left on his contract), to the Redskins for Fuller and a 3rd round pick.
Trade can't actually go through till March 14th, but the Skins have already reportedly signed Alex to a 4yr extension for 94mill (70 guaranteed), making him like 38yrs old when it's done (or 39).

What it means:
Cousins is a FA. Jags, Bills, Browns, Broncos, Vikings and Jets could all be possibilities. Some can offer playoff experienced teams (Jags, Bills, Vikings), some can offer potential (Broncos, Jets) and some can offer cash (Browns, Vikings)
Chiefs believe in Mahomes
Redskins didn't believe in Cousins ability to win games. But believe Smith can.

Crowder, Reed, and Chris Thompson could all benefit greatly with an Alex Smith style QB, but if they need a speedster to help on a long game, Doctson is that guy but it's not like he's a massive speedster.
Maybe they think Smith with a competent Coach can win games late. Andy Reid sucks at that.

I am not sure I'd say that the Redskins didn't believe in Cousins ability to win games. I just think they know he isn't coming back and want to make sure they have a starting QB next season. That or they don't want to pay Cousins the big money hes going to command on the open market.

They don't believe in Cousins for his price he will be asking them to pay him. They screwed themselves over by the way they handled it franchise tagging him the 2nd time. If they signed him to a contract then, it would be roughly what Smith just got likely (4yrs/94mill (71guaranteed)).
Cousins QBR between 2016/2017 season from november-december dropped from like 110 to 75, something showing teams adjust to him and he doesn't. Suggesting he's hit his ceiling. Something like that, I'm trying to remember from a month ago an article.
For what it's worth, if Cousins goes to Cleveland, I don't think he'd go invisible in fantasy realms. Josh Gordon, Coleman, Duke Johnson, Crowell, Njoku. Plus whatever they get with their No1 pick and No4. Plus they have a REALLY good O-Line actually. Cousins, even though he struggled this yr, is a great deep thrower. He just needs that option. This yr the Skins had no deep runner, last season they had DJax and they had a crazy deep threat with him and Cousins.

I agree that Cousins in Cleveland would be intriguing from a fantasy perspective -- lots of weapons on offense there. More than in Washington actually, in my view.
But I'm really skeptical that he'd actually go there.
Before the Smith trade went down, Cousins gave an interview yesterday or the day before about what he'd be looking for in a team if he hit the open market.
Now, he readily acknowledged that money is a factor. But he kind of went out of his way to point out that it isn't the only -- or even primary -- factor. He wants to win. And despite having some nice pieces on offense and defense, the Browns ain't exactly the team that leaps out to most people as providing a good chance to win.
Now, it's certainly possible the Browns try to just back up the Brinks truck. But even then, I'm not sure it's enough to bridge the gap of uncertainty.
Cousins has made boatloads of cash already. About $24 million in the 2017 season. About $20 million in the 2016 season. And he's bound to get AT LEAST 4 x $20MM (likely $23-25MM) in free agency from some team not named the Cleveland Browns.
And while there's certainly some upside in Cleveland, the team is one more relapse away from losing its best offensive threat to suspension forever. Love him or hate him, how much worse do the Browns look as a team (especially on offense) without Josh Gordon?
I'd think those factors HAVE to weigh heavily on Cousins. But will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Cousins being behind a great O-line just gives him more time to throw a perfect interception and lose the game. Because Cleveland Browns.

What's lost in all this is the Chiefs receiving a SOLID CB. Kendall Fuller allowed a 55.0 passer rating when covering the slot in 2017. The LOWEST mark in the NFL this season! (min. 150 snaps in slot coverage)

I think the Redskins made a bad trade to be completely honest.. They traded a really good defensive player for a QB that is average at best!!
Zorro says "vote for Dobber"
Angus is my best friend at dobberhockey..
Because Smith is a high floor low ceiling QB, the Skins will never look terrible after this trade I think. Like with the RG3 trade, that was a MASSIVE bust because nothing came to for the Skins, but here at least they get a QB.
Also the 71mill guaranteed sounds like it's injury protected. AKA he gets the 71mill if he's injured, but if he's terrible and cut he gets a much lower amount.
