Well that makes one of my retention decisions a lot easier.

Nuts. That sucks. Ellis is good and fun.
Damn. Guess that makes the Emelin signing a little clearer as to why they did it.

Sneaky value drag on Josi too - his huge run at the end of the season came when he and Ellis had worked the kinks out for their pairing

Ekholm shoots up

Really?
Ekholm got pretty much no PP time from February and on.
Digging deeper.
Ekholm got 7 minutes and 44 seconds of PP time in Nashville's final two games of the season.
That total surpasses the amount of PP time he got from Feb 2-April 8....ish
The reason he got so much PP time in those last two games was because Josi missed one game (Ekholm got 5:10 of PP time) and Ellis missed the other game (Ekholm got 2:34 of PP time)
I know.
But he had loooooong spells not used at all on the PP during the end of the season.
I drafted him the year before and followed him closely.
Im just saying Ellis being out positively affects Ekholm. IMO, of course.
What about Alexandre Carrier? He's also a right-handed shot and got a couple of NHL games already last season. Could he get a full-time job while Ellis is out? 39 points in 72 games during his first AHL season is definitely not bad.
Emelin, Irwin and Y.Weber just aren't very good players, so I'd much rather see someone like Carrier get a chance to play. But maybe that just makes sense to me and not the Preds.
