I've watched him a lot as a Habs fan. The return on the trade wasn't so good, but ultimately it worked out well. Had they exposed him, Vegas would almost certainly have taken him. Instead, they got a 3rd rounder for Beaulieu and got to wave bye bye to Emelin's horrid contract instead.

As for Beaulieu, he's a bit frustrating as a player. He shows flashes of being really special and he'll go on a bender with his awesome play, only to become listless and disappear for long stretches. Some days he seems like a solid 2nd pair, only to fall back to being a borderline NHLer. In this regard, I'm glad he's another team's problem, especially at the cap hit he now commands. But I do worry he'll put it together eventually.
