Color me not surprised. Seemed like a fairly logical landing place for him.
Estimates on # of games started this season for Mason vs Hellebuyck?
Oh ffs, please no.

I'm in the camp that says that Mason is a superior goalie. But I'm also in the camp that knows how poorly Mason does when he shares the net.
I'm going to guess Mason plays 55+ games to Helly's 27. I think Mason can outplay Helly and it wouldn't surprise me if Mason got some starter guarantee to sign. He was pretty vocal about not sharing the net.

I would guess Mason +/-60 games and Helle +/- 20 games...

Yeah I was gonna guess ~50 games for mason, ~30 for Hellebuyck but I wouldn't be surprised to see Mason get closer to 60. He is definitely the superior goalie of the two right now. That may change in the future or it may not.
hearing 2 year deal with ~4 mil AAV
I don't think Mason will play that many and is one of the options I least wanted to see in regards a time share as the Jets are invested in Helly... A touch surprised as Elliott made more sense in my head so wonder where he lands...
Experience is the teacher of all things.
I would guess that the Jets go with the hot hand. Win and you stay in nets for the next game. Lose and see the rotation continue
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.
Exactly and I think Helly is capable of his own hot runs
Experience is the teacher of all things.
Hellebuyck and Mason are basically the same guy until Hellebuyck matures. Both able to stand on their heads at times and both let in absolute laughers at other times.
We'll where this goes... mason was very specific about not wanting to be in a timeshare so maybe he was promised something, or maybe he just realized how limited his options were and took what he could get.
At least I should be able to trade Mason for something now instead of having to outright drop him.
A year too late , but good move just the same .
Don't see how this makes sense for them, could have went after a better goalie or just went with hellebuyck next season.
