    Default Provorov vs Barrie

In a keeper in which we count points only (goals are valued an extra point) my friend is offering Tyson Barrie for my Ivan Provorov.

I won the league last year and should be competitive this year as well, Barrie had an off season lasy year while being the #1 in Colorado while Provorov do not get regular PP1 time.

I'm not sold at all on that trade, your impressions guys?

I'd keep Provorov. He had an impressive rookie season and within 50 games became the Flyers' best defender. With Streit out of the way, PP time should be easier to come by.

In contrast, Barrie's the guy on COL but they tanked for a reason. Outlook for 2017/18 doesn't look any brighter than this year did. Barrie's at his peak now vs Provorov probably improving next year.

How many rookie Dmen end up on the PP1? Werenski & Ghost are but two. I wouldn't be worried Provorov wasn't getting PP1 time in his first season. Multi-cat's are where Provorov is going to become an absolute stud. In a points only, look no further than Dumba, Trouba Rielly, Ellis to see how long it can take an offensively skilled Dman to hit 45pts +...err we're still waiting for most.

this is one format Barrie might be more valuable. I would fully expect him to be more productive next year.. in 2-3yrs, though, Provorov could become Letang level scoring. That's the scary part letting him go.

To me Provorov's potential outweighs Barrie likely outperforming him this coming season

    This.

I much prefer Provorov's situation than Barrie's, and Barrie has been a defensive liability (along with the entire team, of course).

I could definitely see Barrie having more value in the short-term than Provorov, but I wouldn't want to be the person who trades away a young stud like Provorov whose potential far exceeds Barrie's in the long-term.

I wouldn't make this deal even if Barrie has a good chance of winning short-term. That's not the best use of his trade value. If you move him go get a major roster upgrade.

I guess Im in the minority here but in a points only format I prefer Barrie.

I love Provorov but I see him as a better all around Dman more so than an offensive force. I can see him losing PP time to guys like Gostisbehere and Phillipe Myers.

Barrie is much better than his 2016-17 stats would indicate. I like Provorov and he has a chance to be special, but Barrie managed 38 points when everything was working against him, so there is a bit of a bird in the hand argument to be made in his favor.
