I think its fair to say they can both be superstars, but Mathews has the ceiling where he might reach the conversation of best 2 or three players in the game someday, whereas Marner I think has a ceiling of top 10. Just depends on what your definition of superstar is. Mathews is hard to find comparable players for in terms of ceiling but I think somewhere in Malkin's range (lets just think without injuries as there is no way to predict), continually considered one 2 or three best centres in the game. I think Marner has a chance (and it may be little) to be a slightly less dynamic version of P. Kane. I don't think he will get there but he has the requisite skills. I don't like the Toews-Kane comparison though because it sells Mathews wayyyy short in terms of offensive output.
