Great impact this year? That's not likely. They would have been up earlier if they were capable of that.
Anyone have a list of players that might be called up by the end of the season that would make a great impact?

Do the Blackhawks really still own his rights? It's been almost 6 years since they drafted him and he hasn't signed his ELC since that time. The best information I was able to find, you only have European player's rights for 2 years after the draft based on the 2005 CBA (which I think was still valid when Shalunov was drafted in 2011 - the next CBA came in 2013). Even if it was 4 years, that time has expired as well.

Besides, I think the Blackhawks will add a top-6 winger before the trade deadline. Someone like maybe Vanek or perhaps Tatar. If they do that, there's no more room in the top-6 unless injuries happen. In the 2005 CBA, this section provided NHL Clubs with a two (2) year window, in which, they would retain the exclusive rights to sign a non-North American player on the drafting club?s reserve list. This two-year window was expanded to a four-year window in the most recent agreement.
I can see Svechnikov coming up for the Wings.

Not sure where I read it or heard it but apparently the Wild are thinking about bringing Joel Ericsson Ekman back possibly. Apparently there is a deadline they have to bring him back before so not sure if that idea has come and gone.

Bob tweeted answer to this some time ago:
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Jan 15 deadline came/went for MIN to recall Joel Eriksson Ek. He'll finish season in SWE. Eligible for NHL return (playoffs?) once SHL done.
Must have missed that one ... thanks JP!!

I can't quote you Jouko so....
To answer your question, whether the Hawks can bring over Shalunov has been questioned in a couple places. From what I gather from reading different blogs and writers, the Blackhawks still have his rights and because of this they can sign him when the KHL season is over. Shalunov's KHL team doesn't look like they are going to make their playoffs.
