Default Justin Schultz ROS (will rep)

Schultz has just been dropped. Do I have a D man to,drop, for him? Like his +/-. Can he keep up his pace? Will he loose power play time to Letang?

He will almost certainly lose PP time to Letang, but he should continue to produce; just maybe not at a point per game clip. Not unreasonable to expect somethin near 0.60 ppg as the Pens offe se is so potent and Shultz's style of play compliments it well.

    Bottleneckers (12/16 in 2022)

I'll reuse part of what I wrote earlier today in another thread:

Schultz can play with the big boys in Pittsburgh so as long as he keeps his spot he should generate points with a decent floor (30-35 points).
Given the fact that Letang is made out of porcelain, he will regularly feature on the 1st PP too.
So unless you get fair value, I would keep him and enjoy the ride while it lasts... best case scenario, he sustains his breakout and become a PP specialist.

That being said, I'm not sure you need to drop a dman right now... maybe Gardiner but he's been as good as Schultz lately, if not better.
Your other dmen are too good to drop imo so it might be a lateral move at best.

Why the heck would he be dropped? He's been one of the best dmen in the league in december. I watched the habs pens game and Shultz took PP1 while Letang watched for at least one of them anyway....so he will continue to produce even on PP2....top 15 Dman in my books the rest of the way especially in plus minus leagues.

I would drop Gardiner to gamble on Schultz, assuming guys like Gardiner are not dime-a-dozen on the free agent market. Gardiner is good but you never know when he goes cold for 10 games.

Drop Gardiner for Schultz... no brainer.

As someone mentioned above, Schultz was still on PP1 even with return of Letang. Up until Letang got hurt, the Pens were going with 2D on PP1. I expect that to continue for a while at least.

Agree that Gardiner for Schultz is the right move.

It's the only move is consider with the rest of your team - not sure I'd be so quick to drop him though, as another poster said, Gardiner has been there or thereabouts too with less threats just lacking the fanfare. In a situation like this I wouldn't have a problem doing a 2 for 1 knowing my empty slot goes to Schultz...
