In a points-only format I want the more offensively skilled guy. That's Hertl. I would take him and cross my fingers that he doesnt get injured. Plus I think Hertl has more trade value at this point, and I like to take the guy that I can sell for more if need be.

I'd actually go Vesey in points. Hertl in league with peripherals.
I think Vesey has the higher goal scoring potential. Hertl perhaps more assist.

I like Vesey over Hertl short and longterm. That being said I just ran into injury problems with Letang going down and no defencemen on my bench and pulled of the following trade with a gm I knew had a love for Vesey.
I gave Vesey, Fleury, Sharp and a 2017 4th rounder
for
McDonagh, Hertl, Hellebuyck and a 2017 5th rounder.

Hertl will peak right when many SJ players are either gone or losing their grip to top spots, and in the meantime he gets to learn from them. I think he'll be the wiser choice of the two, but like others have said there isn't a big gap between him and Vesey.

Evens this season and maybe next but I prefer Hertl long term
