Question Time to trade Laine ??

    Hi,

So Laine is on fire and really a key piece in my line up.

I'M going for the win this year and 2-3 GM are already rebuilding for next year and have approached me for Laine.

Here are some potential offers I can go for:

    Duchesnes + Hedmand
Kessel (or Mackinnon) + Gostisbehere (or Ristolainen)
    Gaudreau (or Anisimov) + McDonagh

I haven't shopped around too much at the moment but these are the potential deals I may get.

We only keep 5 players (2 fwd, 1 def, 1 goal + 1 extra). At the moment, my keepers are Benn - Seguin - Malkin - Karlson and Price.

I may consider shopping Malkin instead of Laine to better up my def.

    What to do ?

    Thx

    D- Karslon - Fowler - Ghost - Nurse

Even in a limited keeper like yours I would not be shopping Laine yet. I would move Malkin 100% before I considered moving Laine. I am shopping Backstrom, Subban, and Klingberg on my roster to free up a keeper spot for Laine!

I do not like any of the offers you listed. In all those offers you do not get a player back that upgrades your keepers.

You have the best D man in the league
The best Goalie in the league
You have two stud 70-80 P players hitting their prime
And a true PPG player who is a bit of a wild card. With his injury concerns I would shop him and add a future stud who is 18 and in good health!

The best player you have mentioned is Johnny Hockey, but you have players you are not keeping that are in the same tier as him.

I wouldn't move him unless you're getting two stars back to put you over the top for this year, or unless you can get Crosby/McDavid as your last keeper.

    THIS^^^^^^

Unless you are 100% getting the pieces you need to win you stand pat. IE getting Holtby and Weber/Burns lets say. Something that puts you WAY over and locks you in for a victory this year, you stand pat.

    OR

The only move you make at this point would be to improve on Malkin as your last keeper...

Like everyone else has said - the best case scenario is to use Laine to upgrade Malkin. That should be a priority.

But, if Laine is not a keeper, I would consider using him to upgrade your defense.

I like Kessel to match Laine this year or come close and Ghost would be a welcome addition. With only scoring categories, Laine's value comes much closer to Kessel/Duchene's in my opinion. Ghost and Hedman instantly become your #3 d-man. Plus, even in a 10-team, you might still be able to trade Josi or Hedman for a keeper upgrade.

In a 10 team league you have the best goalie, the best defenceman and 3 of the top 10 forwards. Then you have Laine on the side. Well done.

I agree with others. Get a slam dunk league-winning trade or just hold onto Laine. As teams fall out of contention they will only get more desperate to overpaid for a great keeper.

Your league weighs goals 50% higher than assists too -- this guy looks like gold.
To be honest, forget about using him to upgrade Malkin -- he might be the upgrade on Malkin by year's end.

Ok...so keep Laine...he becomes my fifth keeper...Seguin, Benn, Laine, Karlson and Price.

Try and trade Malkin for a good but safer fwd and upgrade on defense. I will see what I can get.

I like the Mackinnon + GOst trade for Malkin...im just concerned that Mackinnon value and hype is going down.

how about you package Laine + Malkin for McDavid/Crosby or Ovy? You think the other GM would bite? That way you ensure a good return and at the same time and upgrade your keeper.
