Auto-draft killed me

We had 3 teams auto-draft and a 4th came in late this draft. I had the 8th pick in a straight draft with 2 picks in the 2nd round (no 5th rounder). My plan was to grab the best skater and use one of my 2nd rounders on a tier 1 goalie. Because teams auto-drafted all the tier 1 goalies were gone by my turn in round 2. So opted to punt, giving up the wins cat and stocking up on tier 2 and upper tier 3 tenders. This allowed me to grab more firepower before taking my 1st goalie. I'm not gonna blow anyone away but here's what I ended up with, including the round picked. What do you think of this cast of characters?

(4) Talbot...this pick allowed me to grab Toffoli, OEL and Voracek
(7) Varlamov
(10) Fleury (a bit of a steal IMO)
(10) Lehner (could prove to be a tier 2 if he can stay healthy)

With a solid skater group, you should be winning close to 7 cats weekly: G,A,+/-,PPG,PPA,GWG,SOG.
That's enough to move on in H2H playoffs... and that's all that matters.
For all you know you get a few good goalie starts in playoffs and you can sit on SV% or GAA... or your goalies shit the bed and you chase SV.
Either way, there's nothing wrong with punting goalies in many H2H formats.

Punting goalies for bottom tier starters is almost always my H2H strategy. Hopefully it works out for you too!

Thanks, I feel a little better. I made trades to acquire solid goalies for the playoffs last year and they crapped the bed anyway when I needed them most. This is also the reason I decided to for gaolies who should face a lot of rubber and taking the saves and hopefully save% cats

I think the big fish could be MAF. I still feel he's the starter on that team despite what Murray did. He may not start 65 games but 50+ would be a coup for me where I was able to grab him.

Possibly but he's under pressure from Pickard IMO, Lehner is an injury risk, and Edmonton could still suck defensively - I'd like to think that all three won't happen but there is definitely some risk here - or you end up looking like a genius lol

Nice adjustment during the draft. Like 3 of your guys where you got them, and Varlamov is worth a shot, at least you will know if you need to cycle him or Lehner due to injury or suckiness fairly obviously.

Both Varlamov and Lehner can be injury risks. If either go down look to Pickard or Murray as solid backup to your starters or maybe Hellebuyck right away if he wins the starting job straight out of camp.
