Since Markov, Petry and Emelin all have no trade clauses, they have to be protected and, barring a serious surprise, they'll protect Weber, which makes 4 d-men, which means they have to go for scenario B where they may protect 8 skaters and 1 G (as opposed to scenario A where a team gets to protect 7 forwards, 3d-men and 1 G). We already have 4 D-men that will be protected, then Pacioretty, Gallagher, Galchenyuk will surely be protected as will Plekanec with his no trade clause, which makes 8 skaters and which leaves Beaulieu (and Radulov if it works out) up for grabs for Vegas.

Of course, he could try and trade one of the d-men he has to protect, but they won't get nearly the same return.

Unless I missed some detail concerning the expansion draft...
Yup, bunch if things that are wrong here... Emelin has a no trade, not a no movement clause, and only the no movement clauses are mandatory to protect. Markov is a UFA, so no protection needed. Petry is the only one with a no movement clause, Weber will be protected, and Beaulieu as well, if he is still there. The Habs will be free to protect 7 F.

That is for RFAs ... Vegas would we more than stupid to waste a pick on a UFA. An asset is an asset, you don't use your one chance to get a free player from each team only to see that player walk away for nothing 10 days later.

My mistake... I thought that both had to be protected. (seems logical that if one has to be protected, so does the other)
    On a fantasy hockey break.

This deal straight across would be great for the habs. But I doubt it happens. I really like Trouba

It would have to be Beaulieu++ for this deal to happen.

As a habs fan I would be happy with this. Nice upgrade on defence. Trouba plays with a good edge

Hmmm, I agree with Eric that it would have to be Beaulieu +, but I doubt the Habs move McCarron and that the Jets actually ''need'' him. I think they would prefer picks here, but ya, we can all agree that the Habs would be really happy to land Trouba!

Doesn't work capwise...would need to throw something like a Desharnais in there...and Jets have no use for him.
