Two year experiment to see if they can turn Kane into a productive player and they shed that goalie albatross which also opens the door for the Bishop deal. What's to lose for either side? If neither works out you can walk away in two years and all you've done is swap headache for headache.
Sorry NWO, but I don't see Kari Letanotheronein an upgrade over any goalie in the league. He's just brutal

I think E.Kane should travel with Radulov back to Russia around Christmas time and stay there for the remainder of their careers..

Both like to party and clearly just play for money and the partying..

Maybe playing in Vegas will turn things around for Kane. Not

Myers was more valued than Bogo and has proved to be the better of the two since the trade.
Stafford was an expiring contract at the time who was re-signed as a stop gap for two years the summer after the trade.
    Definite win for WPG.

I wouldn't say Buffalo won that trade, but I also wouldn't say Buffalo misses any of the players they got rid of. I did a happy dance when Stafford was traded, he was so overpaid with zero effort and zero heart. And they needed to move on from Myers as well. I understand why Murray did it - he wanted different types of players. But even at the time, you'd have to think there were quite a few red flags with E Kane. Every trade has risks. Even with the benefit of hindsight this trade doesn't really bother me.

I can understand being moderately okay with the trade from a Sabres perspective the day of (although it was still pretty much universally regarded as a big win for WPG), but today? This trade was a disaster for Buffalo. Bogo's an okay defenseman, but giving up Myers, Lemieux and what became Roslovic (never mind Stafford, who's been solid for the Jets) for Bogo and the debacle that is Kane is horrible. The Sabres will be fine, considering the young core they're putting together, but that trade was awful for them.
And to call them all salary dumps is silly.

I doubt Lemieux or Roslovic will be top 6 forwards (i.e. a dime a dozen). And Myers lost his confidence in Buffalo - they needed to move him. The only mistake was taking a chance on a player with such poor character. I didn't like the trade at the time, but I still don't think it's a big deal for Buffalo. It's about as disasterous, IMO, as moving that 3rd round pick for Vesey. Big deal, they'll get nothing for it.

But yeah, the trend is worrying. To be honest, the Lehner trade was worse than both of the deals above...at least from my perspective.

Bogo can’t run a powerplay. He doesn’t quite get you need to hold onto the puck and not let there be a whistle. So he gets impatient too often and just puts his head down and tries to blast a shot. No screen, no movement, NHL goalies are stopping it 99.9999% of the time. He’s got a wicked shot, he can pass well, he moves well enough for a big man, so he has the tools to be a solid PP D guy, but just can’t do it.

My only issue is the fact that Buffalo needs to supply a personal Public Relations Administrator to cover E.Kane. He could put up 60-70pts a year and some teams would think he’s not worth the headache.

I'm surprised that no one mentioned the Canucks here. An early 20's power forward to play with the twins? Take Higgins & a couple picks (cuz that's what Van does, throw in extra picks).

This is the exact type of player Vancouver needs/wants. Problems or no problems. Benning should be busy this week. I'll put Van as my #1 predicted landing spot for EK
